New Principle Owner Jed York Thread

Yeah, I think Jed, the owner, gets lumped into the rest of the FO re: "football." As an owner, he's already accomplished more than 85% of the owners during their entire tenure and he's still very young. Mistakes? Sure, regarding PR but he's going to learn from that (esp. with regards to KKFC). I measure an owner by what he actually has control over.

As far as football goes, given the amount of coin he shelled out for the most expensive coaching staff in the league including 15 offensive coaches AND a "secret consultant" to help Roman out this past off season, as an owner, I'd expect better offensively too. Didn't you as a fan after the Superbowl? In the end, Jed did what good owners do...he went with his GM over the HC and subsequently hired additional support for Baalke in Tom Gamble. Aside from the first interview with each HC candidate, he stayed the hell out of the process and let his GM do the work...as he should. Fans forget that letting Harbaugh and staff go was also an entire FO move...unlike Eddie D. who'd fire a HC b/c he "felt like it" after each and every loss on the field. And to me, that's the bottom line...clearly HaRoman were in over their heads, completely figured out, had no answers, had a significant downward trend, players were complaining, the opposition was mocking us, etc...in short, the production on the field did NOT match the resources put into it...no ROI.

I applaud any FO who has the balls to make a difficult decision. It was time. Everyone knew it. The players, the waterboy and even Baalke's daughter. Every fan in here knew it too...even if we did like Harbaugh for his past accomplishments. We as fans can wallow in the past...as 49er fans, that's what we do. But a FO has the respponsibility of assessing the team now and well into the future. They made a move and I can only that.

Personally, I'm excited about this new coaching staff, the continuity, the experience, Tomsula's infectious personality, the excitement within each 1on1 staff interview, the players (VD, Justin & Boldin), etc. And if the results on the field don't match the resources out into it, I'm excited about an ownership who at least, has the balls to make a move AFTER they've exhausted every option/solution.

As fans, that's all we can ask for.

I'll be waiting for those who laughed at Tomsula to say they were wrong...but I won't hold my breath!

of course you will not, that is because when we have success they will just find a way to give the credit to a previous coach with his players ,, just like they did to george s. for all those years. we got one locker room right now, we started last year off with a divided house so already ahead of the game,,,, i bet we also got coaches who will not beat up our players to death in practice and make them take some stupid cross country flight to practice with another team

I think we're going to shock the NFL big time.

Then all the talking heads will be band wagoners.

I can't wait for the draft and then TC.

you do not know what we have on april 10th, why is it just a crime against humanity to have a open mind and see what this team actually looks like when they actually get it assembled. to make up your mind about our team on april 10th is illogical and makes no sense in my opinion.

of course this is the truth,,,, how can you not be excited, new players, new coaches, new ideas, one locker room, a fresh start, no cloud of doom over our heads like there was all last year. and as you said, the draft still to come. if people just want to hide under the bed for this year or better off, just jump ship,, go for it.. they will not be mourned or missed

Apparent? How so? They haven't even played a preseason game yet.

You had better be around for a big helping of crow if they start winning games. I know I'll be big enough to say you and fans like you were dead on if they don't.

and so will i. we have no axe to grind and just wants what is best for the team,, that is what makes us mature. if you recall some posters blathered we would not have a coaching staff in place by the draft and no one would want to come play for us. Did those people come back and man up now that they were proven wrong??? no. my point is proven... now to your other point,, of course you are right. if things go south, there will be plenty of time to b***h, moan complain and set the time and date for the funeral of our team. why waste so much energy doing that now when you have no proof on april 10th this team will be the worst in the nfl.

see, sus is a good dude with a open mind,, at least he leaves the door open for some type of success.. he has concerns but he just does not do a blanket statement, throw up his hands and give up on the team in april. now what he does in private is another story and something i would rather not know about
