it's pretty apparent by the way things have shaken out the past 5 months that there wont be any success this year. At least not to the level that we have had the previous 4.

Apparent? How so? They haven't even played a preseason game yet.

Gonna be lucky to finish 8-8 TBPH.
see, sus is a good dude with a open mind,, at least he leaves the door open for some type of success.. he has concerns but he just does not do a blanket statement, throw up his hands and give up on the team in april. now what he does in private is another story and something i would rather not know about

lol

Still some talent on this team so they will be beat the bottom half teams but I dont expect them to be heavy weights like they were when a certain coach who mutually parted ways was here.

I appreciate any Niner fan who honors Harbaugh's ridiculous winning percentage. And I was a huge Harbaugh supporter while he was here. But, it's kind of hard for me to understand how a fan wouldn't be expect better offense this year for so many reasons, not the least of which is a new group of coaches who may not be as stubborn in sticking to a system that has clearly been figured out by the rest of the division. My expectation for the offense is one that will be less predictable, more explosive and a lot faster. Defense is a little harder for me to figure, but even there, I see a lot of potential. I expect this draft to be mostly defense. I expect Mangini will be more aggressive with blitzing as he has in the past. I see lots of speed and potential in their younger corners. And I think Aaron and Aldon are going to be a nightmare for quarterbacks.

also got a quality wide out coach which has been a glaring hole in our team,, and a great secondary coach. i just think its going to be so much fun to put it together

And since virtually everyone in sports media and a sizable proportion of Niner fans have the Niners finishing last in the division, this could be the makings of an absolutely epic year. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

It's hard to expect a dramatically improved offense when the same system and part time play caller are running the show. Had they upgraded the oc then you could expect different results but right now is not much to get excited about. Jmo

Quite the opposite. Had we hired Gase, an entire new offensive system would need to be installed and proper personnel drafted/outside coaches brought in and that could take years to develop. Now, everything remains intact with more "proper" personnel added and just a few tweaks need to be made...with better play calling, game plans and situational awareness (i.e. coaching/teaching). A refocus on offense was what was needed most...not the offense per se (even though I'm partial to a pure WCO myself).

I don't know if there is any evidence that Chryst actually called plays at any time last season - I think that's conjecture. Here's why I expect the offense to be significantly better:

- It probably won't be as predictable because a different group will be calling plays and game-planning.
- The offense has a lot more speed this year.
- Kaepernick has done serious work this off season to better himself.
- I expect the line to be healthier, more cohesive, have quicker feet, protect the QB better and run a different blocking scheme.
- I expect Vernon Davis to have a come-back year because the presence of Torrey Smith will open things up in the mid to deep middle.

All good points! A few years ago it was reported that Chryst called passing plays to Roman, Roman called run plays and they ran them through Harbaugh to the QB, with JH being able to make changes if he wished. Not sure how accurate that story is given the bay area's writers, but if it was one of the Matt's I'd believe it. The fact that Chryst had limited authority leads me to believe he could be quite different with OC control...and logan isn't a shrinking violet with his opinions! LOL!

So I expect the offense to be quite different. The line may take a few games, even half the season, to get into sync, which is normal for changing schemes and some personnel.

The key to me is the relationship between Kaeprnick and T Smith/VD. If those guys can blow up the D a few times early in games the defenses will be playing on their heals...needing to drop further back, which opens the middle for Boldin, Patton, Smith...Hyde, Bush, Hunter...OK...now I'm getting excited for next year!

LOL! No...no one called the redzone plays...they didn't have to...backshoulder fade pass to Crabtree or run Gore up the center...they rolled dice to determine which they would use!
This seems like as good of place as any to put this...
