thats what I thought too but if you watch the highlight video they show the angle from the endzone and he never lost control of the ball he just switched which hand he had on the ball

Timing wasnt great but that is what you are supposed to do when running with the football.

he never let go of the ball

He never let go of it but the defender hit Vernon's arm up to the point where Vernon had to trap the ball on his facemask. Still was dumb. He already had it in his left hand, then he switched to his right holding it one handed to the side of the defenders and then switched it back after he trapped it against his facemask upon contact.

Someone needs to teach this guy how to run with the football and how to lower his shoulders. He is constantly standing straight up upon hits and one of these days, someone is going to take his knee out while being held straight up.

No it isn't. It was initially in his outside hand. He moved it to his inside hand and only switched it after he trapped it against his helmet when the defender hit his arm.

The ball is in his right hand when he jumps and he switches it his left hand when he gets hit. His left hand is closest to the sideline. As i said bad timing.

Before he jumped, he had it in his left. Then he moved it to his right hand and then jumped. Then the defender's arm hit Vernon's right arm that was carriying the ball which caused Vernon to trap it on his facemask. Then he brought his left hand up to grab the ball and finally secured it in his left hand.

He DID NOT 100% move it to his left hand at contact. It was AFTER contact.

You can see the ball slightly bobbled but stopped bobbling once it reached his face mask.

I have no idea why he switched it from left to right before jumping. Maybe he realized what he did.

Yes and the defenders hand still caused the ball to loosen up. Vernon then trapped it on his facemask with both hands and then finally slid his left hand on top of the ball to fully secure it.

He almost fumbled it and that would have sucked.

One thing is for sure, Vernon REALLY needs to learn how to run when he has the football in his hands. Unless it's wide open straightaway, he really doesn't do very well in traffic.

It's more like he isn't consistent. He could certainly use improvement (especially considering his measurables), but he does have his fair share of plays that he flashes his potential... especially when he's close to the end zone.

At least that's been my impression. I don't have any statistics to back it up.

Yes that would have sucked. The big issue is how he is carrying the ball. If he had it tucked away in his left hand there would of been no reason to switch hands in the first place.
