eh, the only annoying thing about it to me, is it takes a bit longer to get to your car since theres a lot more people.

the last game i went to was the browns game, and it was quite surprising because the trip back to our car took 10-15 minutes longer than usual

i was like damn "where did all these fans come from"

There are always those groups of casual fans that like whose winning now and will change to a different team once someone else comes up. In attempting the weed out the real faithful from the bang wagon jumpers ill usually strike up a conversation about Adam Walker and the 1995-96 division playoff game against the packers. If they cringe you know they have been around a while. If they look lost they just got here.

I've been around since 89 and I don't remember that play.

Oh wow. Adam Walker when he had played with the cast. I remember that.
I knew these threads would pop up one day. As soon as we were to have a good season. Check my username. I've been waiting for them
There is so much freakin room on this wagon, loads of room, big giant wagon with like five guys holding on in the front and the wagon stretching endlessly behind them.

Come one, come all, lets enjoy this ride!
I grew up in the DC burbs and since I was 7 or 8 I'd watch the Redskins on TV at 1pm and the Niners at 4pm. The 49ers were on almost every week from the West Coast. I thought that Sonny Jurgenson and John Brodie were the best qbs in the league. When I moved to the Bay area 27 years ago I became a bigger Niner fan and when I finally got seaon tickets in 1997, after being on a waiting list for 9 yrs, I was like a happy kid at Christmas. My daughter grew up jumping up and down in her seat at the stick screaming Jer-ree, Jer-ree. It didn't matter if it was Owens who caught the TD pass because she thought Rice caught all of the NinersTD passes. She is a Junior in college now and texts me every Sunday after the game we talk about the Niners. I've had great memories from this team and I want everybody to experience the excitement of cheering in front of the TV or high five'in a stranger in your section at the stick. It's all good. It sure as hell beats the last nine years of losing and frustration. I just want to have another playoff and SB win. I want to have the whole bay area go nuts for the Niners just like they did for the Giants. Everybody is welcome! If you have been a BIG Niner fan all of these years be gracious and welcome the newbies.

There are lots of plays real fans can recall. I remember driving back to school during a playoff game after the '98 season and overhearing Garrison Hearst's injury on the portable TV (the sound was great, but couldn't get a good picture for some reason). I remember Aeneas Williams giving Steve young a concussion on MNF, for which I never forgave. That put the team in a tailspin that we never recovered from, until now, maybe.

I honestly don't mind bandwagon fans. I jumped in in the mid to late 80s. You will know they are a real fan however if they are still around when the drought comes and there will be a drought as there is for every team in the NFL.
I've ben a fan for 25+ years, and I will say that while I don't mind the new fans, the thing that annoys me is when I hear "oh now you're a Niner fan" spouted in my direction. I kind of feel like carrying a picture of myself around from when I was little and decked out in gear to throw up any time I get questioned.

New fans are gerat - I just wish there was a way to let eveyone know that I am not one of them!
All i got to say is....the more the merrier....enjoy it while you got it.

more money for the organization, bring it!
There is a whole generation of people who didn't grow up in a time when the 49ers were good. The last time the 49ers won a Superbowl? Kids born that year are almost ready to graduate from high school. They haven't had a consistent reason to cheer, and they're just picking up on the fever now.
I had a guy question me at 711about liking the Niners when his kid noticed I had a 49er hat on. The kid said something about how he'd seen a lot of Niners gear lately and the dad said something like "yeah, no kidding" and then proceeded to imply I was a bandwagon fan.

He didn't even end know who John Taylor was. I laughed.
If you've joined the WZ in the past 6 months your a bandwagoner

Oh well it's nice to have fans

Interesting you say that. I live in LA and stores like Champs would rarely, if ever sell niners apparel (which annoys me becasue we are a California team and LA has no team). But now they have a fair amount niner gear. It kind of irrates me because I'm like "yeah, now you guys start selling this stuff to all the bandwagoners" but overall it's a good thing. Popular brand recognition even effects free agents and up and coming college players.
