Executive of the Year.

MD gave high praise for the moving around and piling up picks for 2013.

McCloughan would have just stayed at the spots because it's too much thinking and taken the biggest player.

He also spent the last year + bashing and trolling Baalke and mocking Jed York for hiring Baalke and then hid in a hole when Baalke actually succeeded. Not to mention, MD gave the Jenkins and LMJ picks F's, so I doubt he would consider Baalke "GM of the Weekend."

A lot of people were mocking York for hiring Baalke. Even Lombardi wasn't thrilled about it. I always note MD on his missed, but how many of you guys have seen the hits on the players we didn't draft that he said we should have such as JJ Watt and a lot others around the league...

...who really cares though. It's his hobby.

He didn't just mock, he basically went on every single Baalke thread acting like an irrational troll and he didn't hone up to his gaffe. Instead, he just disappeared for a while. He deserves no respect.

If Lombardi got the job, Brian Hoyer would be the QB for the Niners right now.

I think a lot of people were not very confident in the hire.

Baalke's greatest attribute is his strong background as a scout. He knows what it takes to play in this league and he trusts Harbaugh to tell him what the team needs. The two of them obviously have an excellent working relationship and it shows.

Another piece that works well is the fact the 49ers let Marathe run the money side of the team. In the NFL of today, that is a very big job. Unlike some GMs who deal with the contracts of players they drafted and often let their sentiment get in the way, Marathe has no ego invested in who picked what player. He is only concerned about making the numbers fit now and in the future. That is why guys like Baas and Snyder were allowed to leave. What it would have taken to sign those two journeymen-level players would have blown up the salary structure for the rest of the team. PM was able to step back and take the long view, something that is much more difficult for a lot of GMs who have "their" draft picks to cover.

So while Baalke has other attributes as well, his primary background combined with the current FO structure leaves him in a position to do what he does best and that is; run the player side of the equation.
I remember people were saying Jed hired Baalke or promoted him to GM solely to get Harbaugh. I wasn't confident in the hire either because it was in house where he was part of the original regime. Baalke proved all the skeptics wrong. Jed knew what he was doing. A lot of people didn't think so at the time. They were all wrong. Baalke has confidents in his scouts and evaluating of talents. This in turn gave him the balls to make tough decisions and take risks in the draft. Jed should lock up Baalke and his guys for the next 10 years. I'm thinking 3-4 SB

He didn't just mock, he basically went on every single Baalke thread acting like an irrational troll and he didn't hone up to his gaffe. Instead, he just disappeared for a while. He deserves no respect.

That is fine. I will take it into consideration with my future posts. Thank you for the information and I apologize for violating the rules.

Great to see Baalke getting props from Peter King!

Let me just add that Pete Prisco gave us a C+ for last year's draft, and we did quite well.
This year, he gave us a C-. If Prisco runs true to form, our draft should turn out quite nicely.
I'm not in love with some of the picks; but, I have great respect for Baalke. I hope history holds true and next year were all talking about how good a draft this was.

Baalke had a good draft but we wont know for a while. But I think I could have done better.
