Man, how do we go from crappy ownership, worst coaches and GMs in the league, worst talent in the league to the exact opposite and top of the heap in a mere year? I hope no one forgets our incredible horrid stretch from 2002 to beginning of 2011. When there is bit**ing and moaning, just think back to but a few short yrs ago when we were so bad , so utterly futile, for sooo long. And when you look back, it is almost incredible we ended up this way.
Luck: if Harbaugh had been coach of Vermont St., we never would have gotten him. Instead he coaches next door at Stanford. Talk about luck....
How we got baalke i'm not sure, other than he rose from below...i don't know how we got him nor his pedigree. Speaking of pedigree, McClown had the great pedigree working wth ron wolf at GB. Sure didn't make him a good GM tho. And this business of getting a little pipsqueak HC and GM in the same guy is a lock for never doing such a stupid thing again.
Which leaves ownership: truly the worst after the Eddie D fiasco, and we all suffered because of Eddie and his dam suitcase of money. Stupidity just killed us.
Bring on the reluctant yorks and we almost died, with no lite at the end of the tunnel. Then some yrs later, their kid is named Pres of 49ers, and in slow motion, we just started changing . We had to suffer thru both noln and then worse, BM, but in the end we get Peter Kings GM of the draft, plus COY and GM of yr. Jeez, go figure. To put it in perspective, the Houston oilers, now Tenn Titans never went to a SB. And they aren't the only ones. Some went 4 times and lost 'em all. Whatever is in the air here, (or maybe the water), we are lucky, blessed, and whatever else you can think of. We are legit contenders this yr after losing last yr on two PR fumbles because our PR was injured.
I don't see a SB on the horizon...i see many and contention for yrs. Coach and baalke haven't won a SB yet, but it is coming. Our coach is "of the age" meaning he is with the "NFL is a passing league", and our GM seems to be a cut, a pretty big cut, above the guys in 2nd place. We be lucky. Please don't forget that.
Great freaking post!

Now the question is, who is Baalke gonna select #32 overall next year?

Another pass rusher. Can't get enough of them. And isn't there 'reports' that they wanted Bruce Irvin that the Seahawks drafted.
Maybe a corner too....

This is why I have a good feeling Kaepernick is going to be a franchise QB eventually. Baalke and Harbaugh obviously seen something special in this kid. VERY excited about seeing how that goes. He obviously is NFL quality since he did actually lead a scoring drive against Tampa Bay. Not exactly the hardest thing to do but still they are an NFL defense none the less. The critics of his throwing motion are unfounded. So what if it isn't the typical throwing motion his release is just as fast as anybody's, is pretty accurate, and is fast as f**k. His throwing motion is pretty close to Phillip Rivers' and not even close to as horrible as Tebow's.

Thanks Command, and here's a last thot. At one point, say 6-8 yrs ago, our GM/Coach somehow meddled w/ another team's player. Result? We got fined one, maybe two draft picks, leaving us with 5( actually I forget the actual numbers). Anyway, bad as we were, we ended up with a couple less draft picks than the other teams.
Fast forward to 2012, and by draft's end, not only do we have a terrific draft, but we end up with a minimum of 2 extra picks next yr,(or is it 3?) and we finished right at the top of the league. 2013 comes, we have virtually twice as many picks as we did when we were sub-crappy team and ended up with half as many picks. I don't think there is much doubt if our guys aren't right at the pinnacle of the league in talent acquiring, and securing extra picks. I won't recite how baalke did it, but it sure as heck makes interesting reading. The guy must be one helluva poker player, plus he got the guys we needed and wanted, at the position they should have been taken.
Actually we could get compensation picks for snyder and morgan, but we also gained Mario, so there may not be much compensation. Note: this is in addition to the rest of the story rehashed above.

The opposite of what everybody thinks he will pick.. seems to be the trend. He makes a pick that "experts" rate a C or C- and they will turn out to be an A+.
Seriously though it is hard to imagine this team not winning a superbowl next year. Too many good moves and too much of a strong "whole" package for them not to.
