What to do with Colin Kaepernick???

Alright, sooner or later, the coaching staff and management team will have to make a decision for the future of our Niner's franchise.Lets face it, we will make the playoffs this year and more than likely, next year with Alex as our QB.

So what do we do with our 2nd round pick Kaepernick?

Alex will be in his last year's contract next season (3 year contract when he signed) As fans, what do you want to see happen?

Resign Alex Smith and have him start for our team for another 3-5 years?
or
Let Alex play out his contract and start preparing for CK7 to take over when Alex Smith's contract is up?

some of the scenarios I see that may possibly happen:

1) we win the superbowl with Alex Smith either this year or next, so we extend his contract

2) we miss the superbowl this year and next year (we make the playoffs) but get eliminated each time facing elite teams. Smith's contract doesn't get extended and the coaching staff experiments with CK7?
Put him in a wildcat formation
put in kaep and ill root for the raiders. at least i KNOW they are idiots.
Neither.

Keep him as backup and reassess each year to make sure we are starting the best player.

i dunno why i find that funny, like it's a bad thing. i know it's not what you mean, but it sounds like it when i read it.

oh and we shouldn't do anything with kap. rodgers sat for what, 3 years i think before he took over in GB? not likely that the same scenario will play out here as far as far as results, but that's alot of time for kap to learn the offense and become comfortable running it.

I'm neutral with the Alex vs Kap debate. I'm just content figuring we'll have a good Qb for the forseeable future.

This is the first year of his 3 year contract. Next year would be his 2nd year. 2014 season would be his last year. Not next year.

Colin needs to hit the playbook more. We all know that he can throw it when the first option is open, but does he know enough to recognized the 2nd or 3rd option. Or just run out of the pocket and improv. I think he's serviceable if there's an injury, but to be a full time starter he needs to be more than 1 and done qb read in the pocket.

He knows the play book and more since he's a scout QB,

He makes his 2nd and third reads after escaping the rush when the line breaks down in 3 seconds

Kaep is really good, but he should only come in when AS loses his job
Why isn't there the option to keep both?

Because that would make too much sense.
