I'd argue that if you have a solid uniform design, you wouldn't have a need for throwbacks. Switching uniforms just for the hell of it gives you uniforms like Seattle's.
Take the Yankees for example (I don't care for the team), they've pretty much worn the exact same uniforms since Babe Ruth played for them. It's a design that so simple in execution, yet still looks good.
We had a solid uniform design for 30 years and it got tossed to the wayside for a more (at the time) modern look.
Like I said before, the best uniform designs are ones that are simple in their design. You start to over complicate something and it starts to fall apart. That's the problem with the 96-08 uniforms, it was way to busy from a design perspective. The black outlines aren't necessary, neither is the logo on the pants and shoulders.
The only thing I liked from those uniforms was the metallic gold on the pants, wouldn't mind seeing that come back.
