I see a number of players do this, but what's the benefit? Is it mainly symbolic. I thought when guys go into the HOF, they aren't attached to any one team? What are the practical implications of signing with a team then retiring?

P.S: it kills me none of these guys got a ring.

It's just symbolic.
#53, much love and respect. hoping he can come serve the team in some way, help some of the linebackers or someone. He and Patrick as defensive coaches would be awesome haha
That one game he had against the Rams in STL was probably the best game I've ever seen a LB play. Bowman always a 49er.

always got a place in my heart <3.

I was so hyped and drunk with that play that I went through my screen door. lol

f**k Seattle for Ruining this guys career. Actually, I think was Eric Reid who ran into Bowman. I remember this dude's f**ked up injury and he still held onto the ball. Then the refs didn't call it a fumble. f**king aye man. This guy was the truth at LB.

He should be still playing today if it wasn't for that day.
