It would have been a no brainer for Montana, but then Steve Young would have given him a run for his money.

May want to read the single game performance thread and you will find it is not Montana dominated; there were a good amount of present stuff mentioned.

I like that the threads creator felt Kaep, should be an option. I am very high on this kid, and expect Kaep will put a Lombarbi in the case for this team...BUT even if he puts 4 Lombardis in the case, two things will haunt the conversation, one Joe NEVER lost a super bowl, and two, Alex Smith almost took the same team to the show. I think in a funny way, Kaep's reputation may to some extent hang on hat Alex does in KC, if Alex lights it up and get KC a ring, then we can all say, it wasn't the system or the coach, but if Alex falls on his face in KC, people will use the "it was the coach" card on all Keap discussions. Well, anyway, Joe Montana is the greatest QB ever, let alone the greatest 9er QB!

Its not because he was the best, it's because he is my FAVORITE.

John Taylor is one of my favorite 49ers ever....but that doesn't mean he was better than Jerry.

If this were about who was the best 49er QB of all time; then it would have to be Montana in first place followed by a very close match between Young and Tittle. None of the others on this list are even close to those two.

Agree with the qb comments, but I don't believe a better team has ever been assembled than the late 80's 49ers.

When Joe was QB I was more concerned with my transformers collection and sunday morning cartoons rather than football games, although I consider Joe the superior QB, Steve was probably the reason I became a 49er fan in the first place so that's why I chose him.
