very happy with this extension!
Great to be a part of the 49er faithful
This is fantastic news. This FO really knows what they are doing. The way the approached FA, the bowman extension last year, now the Davis extension. I wouldn't be surprised to get crab, iupati, Aldon next. I think will wait for kap to have another successful season before throwing the big bucks at him or a Half of season. Mark my words
Gentleman. We are going to be GOOD for a long long time.
Great signing, he's developed that mean , sacks allowed have gone down, that may continue with kaepernick, felt bad for the guy when he was grabbed in KC by that lineman.

Not sure if we can afford Crab. Not sure if much has changed in his mindset since he was a rookie, and we won't be able to keep him w/out a discount. If he decides to Go(ldson) for the top contract, he won't find it here.

OT Anthony Davis' five-year extension with 49ers is worth $37.3 million, including $17 million in guaranteed money.

They're already acknowledged as the top OL in the league...a tip o' the cap goes to Singletary/Baalke there. AD has steadily improved, which is what you want to see your OL do. Definitely Iupati's next. They're not going to let him get away. There could also be a decision on Goodwin @ 1 June...wouldn't surprise me at all to see him get cut. I'm thinking Looney at C...man's a beast and too good to be sitting on the bench. W/Iupati & Boone, there's not much opportunity to play OG. He anchors the OL and we'll be just that much better. I can see some Newberry in him...big, bad-ass who's also got the intelligence to play the position.

37.3 over 6years (inc the one remaining on his current contract) ?
Does this change our cap situation at all?

Some Anthony Davis stats to chew on. Did not have holding penalty in 2011. Had one holding penalty in 2012. In 2012, had one tripping call, two unnecessary roughness calls. (His penalty totals, however, have been decreasing every year.) He allowed 30 total sacks in the past three seasons, but in five career playoff games, allowed none. He had seven false starts in 2010. Had four in 2011. Only one last year. Davis has started every game since his rookie year.

i swear he allowed paul kruger to get around him a couple of times for big plays in the superbowl...maybe no sacks but he def got burned by kruger a few times

why do you say looney is a beast? college tape only?
Have to like our chances we'll be keeping both key members of the line in the long term than choosing one or the other when they are both eligible for free agency. It's all about crunching the numbers.

Baalke will find a way.

why do you want us to cut our starting good center???
this just doesnt make any sense, our line was great finally and you really want to cut a good player only because of his salary? or because a rookie might be better??
plus teams no longer have wait till june 1 to cut player, they can cut expensive players now and designate as june 1 cuts

And if we don't sign him I wouldn't be surprised if baalke is already planning for his replacement. Can't put anything past our FO
