Marcus Cooper is 6'2 195. 190 is pretty built for a 5'10" guy. That said, with his quickness and speed, he is most ideal for the slot covering guys like Austin, Harvin, etc. If we can work him into the return mix this aspect will also help his hand-eye coordination which will also benefit him as a CB!

One step at a time folks, its one thing to be a great special teams player... its an entirely different thing to be a starting caliber corner. Size isnt a concern, if you can cover you can play in this league whether you're 5'10 or 6'5. It would be nice for once to temper expectations of a player instead of writing them in as an all pro after a great game.

Love his attitude and style of ST play and that we didnt lose him to the chiefs haha. But lets remember that his buddy even came to the zone and posted on his behalf saying he has a long ways to go with his ball skills and cover skills before being considered as an NFL CB. But as long as that point has been made... god damn its nice to have a speedster on ST again, this team undervalued Colin Jones and his ability to be first down the field on special teams its nice to have that again.

Agreed!

He's the type of ST gunner who already is one of the best in the entire NFL...he also has the kind of "make up speed" that if a Jacoby Jones gets by the first wave, Morris can catch him from behind AFTER missing him initially. The year started with Cox and Brock as the gunners and they were very poor. Now? Morris and Spillman have been lights out since.

I have no idea if he has return abilities and we have yet to see him as a slot CB but we have time to develop him given all the talent we have in the secondary, even with the expected turnover next year and the draft/FA looming.

Very excited for this kid/us!
Morris has such crazy speed that I would like to see them try him out at KO returns.
I'm really banking on this kid to take the starting CB position. You can't teach speed but I know he needs to be taught technique which I trust our coaching staff. I never thought Brock would be starting caliber...so my hopes are for high for Morris to steal the starting job.
I recall, here in the Zone, many people wanted to get rid of Brock.

I really hope Morris can emerge as an effective DB.
Two years ago Brock was terrible. He gained athleticism last year and some composure. That said, I exect the FO to devote 2-3 of our first five picks to DBs.

It's true and rightfully so. One thing Brock should teach all Niner fans is to be patient. Many of these guys sitting on the bench just need on-the-field time to develop and Brock got just that and took full advntage. Now he is our #1 CB and Rogers and Brown are gone. Crazy. The team clearly is shifting their philosophy in coverage and have already stated they are looking to Brock and Culliver as starters. Many forget, Morris got some time in the slot last year (last 5 games). So this year, I'm expecting a jump in his playing time and abiity to earn a nickle/slot CB spot.
morris got time in the slot? i don't recall that..........good sign if he really did
Probably one of the reasons why we aren't being overly aggressive on the cb market. What the coaching staff did with Brock was amazing. Morris has 4.3 speed and I think he has a great chance to get reps as our slot cb.

fangio's D requires a very very savvy slot corner, u need to know the defense very well to play the slot in tihs scheme, that's why fangio trusted rogers so much

i like morris a lot he showed up every time he was given an opportunity last yr whether it was special teams or in practice etc

fangio was complimentary of him in training camp and fangio doesn't just throw out compliments, he's very honest w/ the media when he says something

can't wait to see how he's developed

i agree that the team must have confidence in him by not being eager to throw big money at tarrell brown or walter thurmond

This is starting to seem like the case each time another FA corner signs elsewhere. If Morris gains Fangio's trust (especially with his speed), He's going to be real solid at the least.....

I think he got some snaps week 14 against Seattle. Somebody went down with an injury, can't remember who, and he stepped into the slot 2nd half. Didn't notice him on the field, and that's probably a good sign.
Tramain Brock 2.0
All I know is Fangio was raving about him. Talking about he didn't know him until he was brought in and he remarked what a find more is was and to credit the scouting department. He sounded impressed with the ability

Yep I remember that, I believe he was targeted only once and he immediately made the tackle on like a 5yd gain. Don't know if anyone also noticed how swole this kid looked too by then
