So the question is...If Vic Fangio gets the head coach gig, does that mean Donatell gets promoted to DC? Then what happens with Tomsula?? Would he be the odd man out or Donatell?

Would Tomsula stay on as Defensive line coach?

It's seeming more and more obvious that fangio is the one we just can't lose. ???? If we keep him we keep 1 of the 2 Donatell or Tomsula

I would think Tomsula would stay as a DL coach unless someone inexplicably offers him a head coaching gig.

Ideally I'd like everyone on the defensive coaching staff to stay but it just isn't very realistic.
I think they hire Fangio as Hc with Donatell being the DC and Tomsula being an assistant DC / line coach. Its been said that if Tomsula was to gwt the HC gig he would reach out to Dirk Koutter as OC which to me would be intriguing

A source told FOX Sports that Koetter is held in high regard by two other head coaching candidates: Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and San Francisco defensive line coach Jim Tomsula.

Brings me back to a wonderful time when Vernon Davis still caught touchdowns instead of preventing his own teammates from catching them.
Fangio as HC, Donatell as DC, and Tresman as OC. And Roman as jockstrap washer.

If we're gonna go with a defensive guy at HC, I don't want to see anybody but Fangio. f**k Rex, f**k the guy from Seattle, and f**k the guy from Arizona.

I want the best possible candidate. If thats Bowles, then I am down. If its Fangio, fine too but dont think he deserves the job just because he happens to be there, especially for a guy that has been pretty average outside of his time with the 49ers.
But, the players seem to like him.

This. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, given he has experience and keeps on churning out quality DBs. But Ed Donatell's time is coming again. Our entire defensive staff should enjoy the ride and enjoy being as untouchable as you can get in coaching.

Surprised? Teams have been calling about Donatell for years now, and each time Harbaugh denied all interview requests for open DC positions.

What the fu*k are you talking about? Harbaugh never controlled that, Baalke did and still does.

They are basically giving Donatell a chance to get an interview and find his market value then if Fangio becomes HC they promote Donatell and pay him fairly.

I couldn't agree more. That is not Dan Quinn's defense.. that's Pete Carroll's defense in Seattle. He's overrated. I don't know how they could justify hiring him over Fangio after what Fangio has done.

I like Fangio as HC, Donatell as DC and Tomsula as Def. Line coach.. need to find a damn OC though.
