I want more Willis blitzes. Willis can rush the passer and we all know he cannot cover TEs and RBs out of the back field.

Willis AND Bowman tearing after Matt Ryan up the middle tonight
Dear Vic:

I am very angry at you. You almost cost us the win.

Do you remember that Matt Ryan only caves under pressure? Just like the NFCG last year?

Well nothing has really changed. I will put some ginko beloba in your stocking this year to help with your recollection.

And, thanks for sitting down all those fresh legs like Skuta and Lemonier that we could have used during the 1st and 2nd quarter to make sure our real studs are fresh for the 4th quarter.

Thank goodness we have some really good talent to make up for when our coaching staff takes a cat nap during the game.

Regards,
Brodieblue

PS: Please don't wait for roddy white to catch 15 passes in a row before you start to double him next time.

As of this morning, after 15 games, the 49ers are ranked:

Third in scoring defense (Points per game)

Third in total defense (Yards per game)

Fourth in passing defense (Yards per game)

Fifth in rushing defense (Yards per game)

Just think how good our defense would be if Fangio knew what he was doing

So Fangio might leave too? Geez. we're one playoff game in and already the mice after the cheese. Can't leave us alone to finish the season?

It was bound to happen at some point. The success of this team will do that.
Those garbage franchises can take roman. I want Fangio to stay.

He's not going anywhere, f**king Redskins are trying to interview ERRRYBODY. They are trying to setup interviews with the OC's and DC's of like 4 different teams, particularly Gruden and Zimmer of Cincy, Roman and Fangio, James Franklin of Vanderbilt, Pat Shurmur of the Iggles and more. They're tossing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. In the end, they're going to go with someone offensive-oriented and QB friendly.
You people are so stupid and never seem to get the big picture. We held them to under 100 yards rushing and held Rodgers to 170 yards passing at only 10 yards a completion. We allowed almost ZERO YAC and let nothing get behind us. They got 20 points, and I chalk one of those TD's up as a "momentum drive" and another one came off a BS non-holding call.

Bend but don't break. That's what we do. We don't need exotic, stupid blitzes that leave our defensive backs in uncomfortable positions where plays are given up or flags are thrown.

The only problem that I have is our first down defense. We give up 3-4 yards much too often.

Other than that, we're fantastic.

LOL. The same people who are complaining about Roman and Fangio would be complaining about how Bill Walsh needs to dump the West Coast Offense and Joe Montana needs to be demoted.

Some people are never happy.
He ain't going no where

I brought that up in the game day thread. tl408 or someone else, anyone have a theory why we struggle covering RB's out of the backfield? These guys seem WIDE open. Is it the formations we run (i.e. Willis/Bowman with underneath coverage)?

Just my observation, and I welcome anyone else with thoughts on this. I think the reason the RBs are open on passing plays where the QB has good time in the pocket is due to scheme, not lack of coverage ability by the ILBs. The ILBS are used to help with underneath coverage on the WRs, playing the hook or curl zones, while the DBs are often playing with a cushion preventing anything over the top. As the play progresses, the ILBs will start to sag deeper and deeper into their zones allowing the underneath short passes to the RBs. I think Fangio is okay with this because the ILBs are so good at attacking downhill and tackling to prevent a lot of RAC by the RBs. So Fangio gives that stuff up while relying on Willis and Bow to quickly come up to make the tackle. Notice slants are not completed very often by 49er opponents. It's because the ILBs are playing those passing lanes while giving up the short underneath to RBs.
