These numbers jumped off the page when I read them.

Austin Collie: 4 seasons, 42 games played (10.5/season), 173 catches (43.2/season), 1,845 yards (461.2/season), 16 touchdowns (4/season)

Kyle Williams: 3 seasons, 29 games played (9.6/season), 35 catches (11.6/season), 461 yards (153.6/season), 4 touchdowns (1.3/season)

Collie has played in more games per year. He has almost 4 times as many receptions a year.

Collie's average yards per year is almost identical to Williams 3 year total.

I am so confused as to the depth chart at many spots. I just watched some BJ Daniels highlights and he looks like a good NFL running back and nothing like an NFL QB, add to that the fact that we are STACKED at RB and I dont see him making the 53.

WR is a crap shoot. They are trumping up Jenkins and Lockette while Patton has the blue jersey on, and Manningham is a top three lock (without Crabtree). I am ok with the starters but our depth is a blue shirt rookie and then a bunch of rejects and undrafted. I like Collie but he should hang em up, nothing is worth your life.

If Craig Dahl starts the regular season we are a MUCH worse defense, Whitner and Dahl safety corps have ZERO range and we better score 35+ every week.
There were times last year when I texted to friends that Goldson was the pulse of our defense. I think Reid has the range and ballhawking skills to be that.

Random thoughts.

Collie is the better receiver. Good size, great hands and route running. Not sure how effective he is outside of the slot. I expect Boldin to be our primary slot guy, so I'm interested to see where Collie fits.

Williams has great speed and quickness. I think he can line up outside at flanker and avoid jamming at the line when Boldin is in the slot.

The doctors are in the house!

The staff has stopped the bleeding at WR.

After thinking we had two stars at WR, and one goes down then what.....Now we have such a mix of talent that can be rotated one has to wonder if the opposing D is gassed by halftime.

Then come playoff time the one who went down is back, who was basically unstoppable last year and finally caught his stride.

Plus Manningham.

IN THE PLAYOFFS THE NINERS ARE GOING TO BE A NIGHTMARE

What does any other team do with 6 on fire receivers, a 2 tight end set that is putting up historic numbers, plus a triple threat running game that is off the hook?

Whew

Seattle better hope they catch us still getting our wind in week 2 when they have that crowd winning games for them without really being that good.

After that they are toast.

Yeah, Williams is a good guy, a good team player and a solid 6th round pick but it's time for him to step up. He needs to break out or he could be gone. He and Manningham are both free agents after this year which could be a good or bad thing. If they can stay healthy and both come back strong it will be tough to re-sign both but if they are still bothered by injury, get hurt again or can't produce it will make it easy for us to move on to the future. Anyways, back to Williams guy has to find the end zone. He's kind of like Delanie who was a solid all around player and didn't do too bad in the yardage category (much better than Williams) but he too had like a 1.5 average a year for TD's which isn't going to cut it. Walker had 8 TDs in 7 seasons and 6 of them came the last 2 years. There are a lot of guys who can get you 15-20 catches a year and 200ish yards. I think he has a chance to break out with Kap at QB and with him being higher up on the depth chart. Problem is if he would makes you wonder what he would re-sign for and if he can keep it up and stay healthy.
