Niners wide receiver Kyle Williams didn't have a chance to celebrate the lone highlight of his rookie season.

Last year, in the 49ers' first preseason game, the shifty Williams returned his first punt 36 yards and … tore a toe ligament in the process.

"I know people are saying that I'm always hurt, I'm never healthy, I can't stay on the field," Williams said. "But I feel as if I take care of everything I need to take care of, and I work my butt off like I have been, that will take care of itself. Pretty soon they'll be saying how good I'm doing or they'll be talking about how hard I worked."

no you were right,, on the other hand still gotta give the kid credit, came back from that, put the giants thing in the rear view mirror, was off to a nice start before the injury last year. the kid always keeps coming back and I still say, unless its more than just a tweak, he will be starter on opening day and a darn good punt returner but yes you were right bout that rookie year

Going back to original point, if the dude could stay healthy he could be a very nice piece. Before the fumble/s I remember many people actually talking about how good he was. He was well liked by fans if I remember correctly. Also if memory serves me correctly we had conversations about him the week prior of the Giants game giving the guy kudos. Then he fumbled and that's what many of us still see. Not that I want to, but again with the memory, I remember talk last year on gameday thread when he would return a punt people would still be holding their breath.

If dude can stay healthy, he is a legit #3 and a pretty legit returner as well.

Patrick willis Wrist injury better not be serious.
Nnamdi Asomugha – He's been the best cornerback in training camp. He's been the most competitive and the most physical. At most, he's given up one catch per practice. Today, he intercepted Kaepernick trying to force a pass to Chad Hall on a quick slant. Asomugha also covered Boldin extremely well. Asomugha broke up a pass from Kaepernick to Boldin in the back corner of the end zone.

Thoughts on this fellas? I'm stoked with the reviews of Asomugha thus far, and hopefully it translates to the games. If he has a good preseason, he may beat out Rogers for the starting spot.

Dude could have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not many players had success under that Eagles regime last year. Dude was one of the best CB's in the league not too long ago. Maybe he will get back to that form, or something at least close to that. He still has some years left in the tank I would say. If not, the depth he adds is very nice to have.

Agreed, his first year in Philly definitely wasn't as bad as some thought. It seemed like he had lost confidence in his second season or simply just never trusted the scheme. He got screwed plenty of times and the safety play behind him was dreadful. If we could get something close to the Oakland Asomugha, it will be one hell of a steal. Seems like he has been the only one to handle Boldin all offseason.

I think he is going to be playing in a scheme that fits him and with a chip on his shoulder...not to mention it's a contract year..PRO BOWL...yep

See this is what I mean....

Maiocco just yesterday said Nnamdi has been "OK" while guys like Culliver and Brown showed much more upside and consistency. I'd rather judge the progress of players with my own eyes during an actual game.
Definitely, but as of now we could only go off the reports we get. This is why I said he has to play good in preseason to up end one of the starting CBs. This scheme allows the DBs to be physical and not many are better than him at the LOS than him. Time will obviously tell if he starts or even makes the team, but can't help but be excited about these reports.

well after watching our keystone kops comedy routine in the super bowl, i will settle for ok at this point in time when they talk about the secondary! it is nice to hear good things about the young guys as well as our new man. i still say a stiff pass rush will mean alot to the secondary

I don't take anything serious written by the Cohn's.

f**k you Nnamdi haters. We have an elite cornerback on our team. And people are going to say Brown is better. Brown is a GOOD corner, but he's not elite...

oh i do not think anyone "hates" him, at least i have not seen that. most are very glad he is here. his age is the only concern I have heard and after seeing what walt harris did for us,, that is no worry to me!
