I don't get it neither. Nolan screwed up big time, needless to say he should have picked Aaron Rodgers and the rest is history.

Meh, if Nolan would have let Alex sit a year or two he may still have his job. I don't think many QB's would have succeeded in that environment. People tend to forget Aaron missed the playoffs his first year after the Pack were 1 play away from the SB a year prior.

But that's old news, probably not the best to turn this into one of those threads so I digress.

Smith did ok in his second year. The team went 7-9, a clear improvement over the year before. The following season - 2007 - was what killed Nolan head coaching career. He survived a sack at the end of the season, but was on borrowed time in 2008. Had Smith been able to play in 2008, Nolan might have survived that season. Making JTO the starter was the beginning of the end for Nolan.
There is a blue print to beat smith. I doubt any real effort will be put forward to make smith look bad. If anything the 49ers want smith to test our secondary. Maybe more very vanilla coverages with the corners playing soft. I would like to see more stunts by our d line and olb's.

during the regular season chief fans will get well acquainted with cover 1 and cover 0.

next he's gonna want winners. we are screwed.
I feel a trap coming on with Alex. Did you see him just dump it off? we all know hes very good with the short game, but I feel Reid is setting us up for some long range deep balls in the coming match up now he knows his offense is on the same page in the short to medium range game.

I have a feeling that Harbaugh is going come down hard on the guys to wake them up soon if he hasn't already. This is not the way to start off even for preseason if you want to win the Super Bowl. You want everybody to look sharp, take care of their assignments and execute, starters or back-ups.

I am sorry but I do not think this game needs alot of break down , it is just a pre season game, nothing more, nothing less. both teams are more worried about what they do as compared to the other team. the niners especially need to see improvement from the first game to the second game in regards to back up linemen, the running game, the wide outs. both quarterbacks will play one series each and while fans are focused in on alex vs ck or whatever else,, this is just another pre season game. i would be surprised if both teams spend more than one hour talking about each other. a "trap" is something you talk about in the regular season.
