Baldwin was never an option on that 2nd GIF. The only reason he was open is because Asomugha came on a weak-side blitz, which forced Alex to move right and cut off that throwing lane. No way Alex can get the ball to Baldwin in that situation.

Christ.....the guy is in another uniform and I'm still making Alexcuses for him.

Gonna have to call b******t on that one lol

Probably b******t lol. Defended him so much for 8 years it's like 2nd nature.
I love it, its like the good old days.

yea, and a terrible one at that. Smith should've noticed the blitz and instantly went to baldwin.

and that roll right, throw out of bounds, looks vaguely familiar.

Good to see Frank get some playing time and getting some big yards.

Charles breaks some long TD runs here and there, and their defense puts them in good field position like we did for Alex a couple of years back.

but still some Chief fans are starting with the gifs.

Because of your intel, I thought I would just take a peek at what's going down in their forum. Let me just say this, 2 words - NOT GOOD.

The dudes are really laying into him already. Considering is only the 2nd preseason game, it is pretty brutal.

Not that I am a big Alex fan or anything, but seriously he needs to play better plus his O-line too cos otherwise this might not end well for him.
this might be a weird question, but did any or you find yourself rooting for Alex last night?

I found myself doing so. On some of the dropped passes, I was like "WHAT THE f**k!?!? CATCH THAT! Alex put it right there for you!!!!" then I had to stop for a second and realize "wait... I'm a Niners fan. You're rooting for the Niners."
Is anyone analyzing the niner performance? Wasn't pretty, but this is preseason...for a reason.

Its hard to analyze. Our 2nd string went against their 1st for a entire half.

Well, you didn't miss much. Just watch the BJ Daniels TD pass to Chuck Jacobs at the end of the 4th quarter should do it.

Then, you better not read what the Chiefs fans have to say about Alex. I don't think you will be able to handle it.

Yeah I did that on some play where the guy dropped it (the rookie RB on a checkdown of course), then logic kicked in as I realized I'm telling a KC player to make the catch. WTF?

It's on NFL network at Noon (CST).

our worst concern after tonight is Special teams...

That's my only concern, really.

In reviewing the game, I remain concerned about WR. The final pass to Jacobs to "win" the game was as much a result of the 3rd string defensive back losing position and balance as it was a good throw/catch by the 49ers. Aside from that, the passing game continues very anemic. We just do not have players that can get open/separation.

The major part of training camp is now over. From here on it is more about polishing the apple. The time to grow apples has passed. I don't see answers. Yes, when Kaepernick is throwing the ball it will be better. That we know. We also know that Boldin is reliable. However, after that we hope that Kyle Williams will become more than he has ever shown to this point. We hope that Manningham will return healthy enough to contribute (I am not a fan). After that we have a bunch of cast offs and the hope the AJ will show up. (he did make one decent play last night but only one)

So yes, STs are an obvious problem, but so is the passing game.

And then there are the penalties.
