Classic Alex Smith.

He also had a defensive lineman/LB on a direct line between himself and the potential receiver. The receiver was open but when there is no throwing lane it doesn't matter that he is open. Also, if you go back and look, the NO CB was closing from the outside. The pass would have had to have been made in a split second between the trailing defender and the closing CB. By the time Smith cleared the DL, the CB had closed the window.

Classic Alex Smith. He avoided the sack, and a potential pick, and went to drive his team down and scored a touchdown.

And that's why Kaepernick is the starting QB for the San Francisco 49ers.

ok,, i could start going around with you and i could ask you,, who got the team in a position to score that touchdown but I will refrain myself,, it would only end in a circus with the mods probably shutting things down,,

both teams in the end got the quarterback which is best for their respective teams, a win win for all and if alex plays well, it will turn out even better for us. i can not go to kansas city saturday night but its nice to know the niners are in the same general area as me, give or take 160 miles

I believe highlight clips from 2006 show Smith willing to make those throws.

After the 2007/2008 saga, I felt the best we would ever see from him would not happen in San Francisco, and especially after the 2011 NFC Championship game.

Does anyone here feel that the 2011 Smith took more risks and big throws than the 2012 version? (on a weight basis)

There is a blue print to beat smith. I doubt any real effort will be put forward to make smith look bad. If anything the 49ers want smith to test our secondary. Maybe more very vanilla coverages with the corners playing soft. I would like to see more stunts by our d line and olb's.

during the regular season chief fans will get well acquainted with cover 1 and cover 0.

Let's see how he fares against the Giants in week 3/4.

I'm sure Coughlin and co will regard that as a simple game, but I bet Reid & Smith will surprise them.

vs. your own 'team'?

its preseason, these games dont count against our record

i'd still root for my team and the players I want to do well against their 1st string offense
I dont see the part where he said he wasnt rooting for his team

Hmmmm. You don't see? I'm guessing it's the "Go Alex!" Let me explain it to you. Alex is the quarterback for the other team. Get it? I like him and I want him to do well this year, but I NEVER root for the other quarterback to do well against the team I root for, which is the Niners. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I'd just call that being a Niner fan. If you're rooting for the other team's QB to do well against the Niners, I'm not sure what you are, but my closest approximation would be that you're a fan of the other team.
Did any of you root for Joe Montana to do well against the Niners when he played for the Chiefs. If you did, then on that day, you were more like a Chiefs fan than a Niner fan. People, this is just common sense. Really.

Every player that's not an active 9er is the enemy

So by your logic that means I think Alex is awesome?
