For the Packers to succeed, they will have to keep CK7 and the rest of the Niner offense off the field. This means developing a run game and short, pinpoint passing on behalf of Rodgers. I think Green Bay has the talent to do this. The moment that Aaron starts hanging out in the pocket in an attempt to wing the ball deep, is the moment where the 49ers take control.
But I still believe the Pack can take it to our defense through a dink-n-dunk, three yards and a cloud of dust, offensive approach. This keeps the 49er offense off the field and gives the Pack a chance to take this game as they wear down the defense in the 2nd half.
I truly think this is the one true chance they have to win this game. Defensively, they aren't that strong enough to stop a multi-faceted 49er attack, even with a receiving corps at half strength. When I hear Greg Roman start mentioning Geometry when it comes to devising a plan of attack, I get chills.

If Green Bay can establish a run game it would open the door for short quick throws, which Rogers is great at, and elongate their offensive drives. That is something to watch IMO.

IF they can. I doubt it. We are far superior in the trenches, and will force Rodgers to throw 40+ times. Then the sacks and turnovers will pile up.

There are very few teams that can run on the D.....and the Packers are not one of them.

I think Lacy is the best rb they've had in a long time, but our run defense is no joke, And I wonder if having Williams on the line makes it better, Willis practically said he was an improvement over Soap

Can't wait for the last season opener in Candlestick! Can't wait to shred up Green Bay's O-line. But I'm really looking forward to next year when this awesome new stadium will be all ours... http://www.sporttechie.com/2013/09/03/nfltechseries-2013-san-francisco-49ers/

We may see Brooks/Lemon have big days. GB will no doubt shift protection over to the left side of their Oline to help out their rookie LT once it is apparent that no rookie can handle Aldon. This will give 1 on 1 chances for Brooks/Lemon to terrorize their RT. GB will then shift to 3 step drops to neutralize the pass rush and that's when Fangio mixes it up and starts to rush 3 and drop 8 into coverage. Not too worried about Lacy and their running game.
If I was GB, I would go max protect and leave it up to 2-3 route runners to get open and for Rodgers to make throws into tight windows. It's safer for the QB's health and I'd rather take the gamble that Rodgers can make difficult throws, with time, rather than have lots of route runners, but very little time to throw, and get hit often.
Offensively, I see GB double covering VD and making the other pass catchers beat them. The lack of an established deep threat (besides VD) should allow the GB safties to cheat up to help with run defense. They will have to play a lot of zone and mixed coverages because if they go straight man on man too much, that leaves windows for Kap to get 10+ yard scrambles, which happened all too often in the playoff game. Kap doesn't have to run much, but he does need to show the willingness to run if the opportunity presents itself because it will force GB to designate a spy on every drop back, which will open up the crossing routes.
