I get sad when I see him doing non football related things knowing that the Niners are all training together. He will always be one of my favorite players of all time, but it just hurts to see him now days. Kinda when seeing an x girl with another dude after a break up and you still have feelings.
Dudes wheels were falling off, bro. The relationship didn't sour. His wheels were falling off. As in...off. As in...could not do it anymore. Be happy for the man; he got out of the league mostly intact and raised himself and his family out of poverty. s**t, bro. That is AMERICAN!

of course this is the truth,, did any of us really want to see him stumbling out there on the field unable to do what he once did better than anyone?

Won't be the same without Patrick, Justin and Frank, but they did what was best for them and you have to respect it. Willis wasn't only a great player, he also seemd like a great person and I wish him all the best.

Surreal to know he's retired. Seemed like yesterday I was jumping up and down in my living room when we drafted him.

Frank was in his prime, Willis filled a gaping hole and changed our identity, and Peterson had injuries in college. Hell no, dude.

I have to agree with this. I'm always amazing at how quick the Zone is to trash anyone who parts ways with the Niners, yet any 5th round scrub player on our roster is the next JJJ Watt or Deion Sanders.Obviously, I'm exaggerating a little, but thats what it feels like.

How good Willis in his prime was compared to other great MLBs in theirs is the question that we should be discussing....
I'll throw out names:
Dick Butkus
Chuck Bednarik
Sam Huff
Ray Nitschke
Jack Lambert
Mike Singletary
Sam Mills
Junior Seau
Ken Norton Jr.
Ray Lewis
Brian Urlacher
London Fletcher
And some new cats for comparison:
Navorro Bowman
Luke Kuechly
Bobby Wagner
