just my 2 cents

6 time All-Pro, yet was only truly elite 3 times? Derp de derp!

Tell me you didn't watch the 49ers during that time without telling me you didn't. When was Willis ever considered DPOY from someone who wasn't a 49ers fan? Even Willis admits injuries slowed him down during that time. Justin Smith was the best player on defense during Harbaugh and it's not even close

The irony. Clearly you became a fan in 2015. He was elected to SIX all-pro teams in 7 seasons. Not from fan voting, All-Pro.

2007 : 1st team All-Pro
2008 : 2nd team All-Pro
2009 : 1st team All-Pro
2010 : 1st team All-Pro
2011 : 1st team All-Pro
2012 : 1st team All-Pro
2013 : Pro Bowl
2014 : Injured in week 5 and ended up retiring

But he's not a HOFer? Can't take you seriously going forward.

Literally nobody became a 49ers fan in 2015

I've been watching Niners games every Sunday during football season damn near my entire life and invested more time, emotion and money in them than any sane person, but yeah please tell me how i became a fan when he hired Tomsula LMAO. Anyways I know it's not a popular opinion amongst the fanbase because Willis was a huge fan favorite during his time here, but just telling you how the rest of the league views him. Sorry if it hurts your feelings

Save your baffling hate for the best 49ers QB since Jeff Garcia for the other thread bud. All I said was Willis only had 3 truly elite years before injuries caught up with him, something he's even admit himself. Great player? Yes. But not enough to be a hall of famer

I'm pumped to see BY & Willis among 15 finalists, but then they said only 5 make it, I think no way BY gets in(BS), and I think Willis gets screwed again(also BS).

Willis was an ELITE ILB, he's a HOF'er IMO, he won't get in, BS IMO, yet Calvin Johnson got in on his first year on the ballot, while Willis got passed over for 2 years now, Willis was one of the best LBs in the game when he was playing, he was great from the get-go.

As for BY, it's a shame he's not in, same with Roger Craig, was pumped, then saw only 5 of the 15 get in, such BS.

the only thing thats making this difficult is cutting his career short.. but what can he do.. injuries played a part in his retirement

What? No. Except 2014.

His tackling form was incomparable yet he was a punisher as well.

He hurt, but wasn't reckless.

If they kept missed tackle stats 2007 - 2014 his tally would be pretty close to 0.

Except 2014? Bowman was recovering from a ACL & MCL tear. Unless you mean 2013. Bowman was a complete animal that year and should've been considered DPOY , hell his 4th down stop against the Falcons in 2012 is what got us to the super bowl. Name me 1 iconic play from Willis during the Harbaugh era. Stuffing Marshawn Lynch a few times? Knocking out a washed up Ricky Williams on thanksgiving? Like I said, Willis was a great player, just not a hall of famer.

Saying Willis was great but not a hall of famer isn't a fact? Lmao well the ppl the vote in players every year seem to think otherwise. Keep crying because someone's opinion differs from yours

I said he had 3 elite years (2007-2009)
Justin smith was the best and most important player on defense from 2011-2014. Look at what happened when he got injured after that SNF game against NE.
and yes Bowman was the better LB during the Harbaugh years, especially by 2013

LOVE this dude !!! but I honestly think that he's a SIGNIFICANT SEASON or TWO away from being one of them ALL TIME GREAT !!!
If Terrell Davis is in the HoF, then Willis is 100% a HoFer. Davis played 7 seasons, and literally only had 4 good seasons. The time Willis played may have been short compared to some players, but there was nobody clearly better than him at the position the entirety of his career.

yea 2013. Except 2013,

Are you deficient somehow?

Of course pat made iconic plays all over the fangio years.

The Giant championship game every hit grinding the giant rb's into dirt.

That was one of the great defensive performances of our time both collectively and from Pat.

Many others. Maybe he didn't make as many splash plays as you would like because OC's stopped challenging him around 2009.

5 career penalties -- except for one crazy game in 2014.

I have no idea who you are talking about.
