What is so hard about defending this corner patterns??
All the DB needs to do is follow the WR/TE in the corner, and instead of playing the player, go play the ball!!
Turn the heck around and see it coming straight to you!!

going into the 4th quarter we were ahead 20-7 and had 13 penalties for 103 yards. We finished the game with 16 penalties for 118 yards. So what your saying is the 3 penalties for 18 yards in fourth-quarter allowed 21 points swing? I thought the same thing until I went back and rewatched the game and realized those interceptions killed us.

Kaepernick is never going to be elite until his mental game matches the physical. I 100% agree he was doing WAY TOO MUCH in attempting to force big plays to happen that we didn't need. Chicago was playing "prevent the big play" defense. He played right into it, and it made him look like an idiot.
It makes no sense to force huge plays when you've got the other team beat already. At 17-0, your goal should be to methodically beat them into submission by putting together long drives with first downs that keep their offense off the field and unable to put any points up. Kaepernick did the opposite, throwing directly into the Chicago defensive setup that was specifically designed to keep them from giving up big plays for more points -- a design the I'm sure had a lot to do also with their depleted defensive group due to injuries.
I love Kaepernick but this has got to stop. Calm down and take what the defense gives you -- ESPECIALLY when you've got the massive lead. I'm so sick of the "big play or nothing" with him. This was another game where I didn't see a single touch pass, there was inaccuracy on almost every throw, and there were a multitude of poor decisions.

this is exactly what I'm saying..
I totally agree w/On The Clock...
for some reason, Kap is always falling for that Woody Harrison "White Men Can't Jump" personality... When he gets that certain challenge, or look(s), it's basically over... it's basically pre set, meaning, he's going that direction by all means necessary!!
he seems to always want to end a game w/one highlight type of play.. a big play or something.. a play where he ends up throwing a great pass or something.. He needs to learn to use his weapons..
Manning and Brady has lesser weapons than Brees and Rogers, but look at them, they make those players look good...
if you watch Kap's last drive, the play (3rd down) where he tried to hit Stevie Johnson on the left post, Frank Gore was WIDEEEEEEEEEEEEE OPEN, on the right flat.... had he just dump him the ball, it woulda been a quick and ez 12 yard first down play..
Montana's great drive against Cincy in the Super Bowl, how often did he look downfield but just dump the ball to either Roger Craig or John Frank, because they were there, they were wide open already.. he never forced the issue even if we had Jerry Rice and John Taylor..

My guess is Kap didn't think the guy could get there and trusted his arm too much AND they guy broke on the ball and made a great play.
I said Kap did not respect the safety on that attempted pass!

Gore
Iupati
Willis
Bethea
McDonald
J. Smith
There were others too. Most of the roster played well, but a few players had terrible games and it cost us.

Johnnydel great job! Does Kaepernick being a former pitcher do anything that may tip of a safety or MLB when he is going to throw, other than staring down a receiver? Hoping you will do some film on Arizona secondary and give your analysis on how Roman may attack them.

This is true Bo Shembechler I am going to run it thru you and Impose my will no matter what. This is all on Harbaugh.

We're going to run a hard power to our left. We're going to pull Iupati and McDonald and lead with Bruce Miller. It's a good play until Boone fails...
We get good, strong combo blocks on the 3 and 5 techniques and Boone is alone on the 1 technique - with a good angle on him for the block.
However, Boone gets chucked to the ground, losing his man - not only that, but he trips Martin in the process leaving Davis without the combo.
It just turns into a cluster after this - the dominoes fall. It lets the DE get penetration and the whole play is blown up.
There's now piles of humanity on the ground and the run is stuffed. If Boone maintains his block - I'm not saying it's a TD, but, you have a lot of weight hitting the hole full speed. That's a lot of big guys with a fast, big back hitting an area hard.
Also, this is a 10-man box. Someone is 1on1 on this play as a receiver, no? You can see how the Bears were lining up out wide on the edges to ensure to guard against an off-tackle run (by either CK or a RB) but this is one where you have to audible out of...or keep the same formation but switch to the pass. It's all-or-nothing but so is the run play...low chance of success here. I'd probably take my chances out wide. If it breaks down, this is where CK and the TE's and WR's are good at ad lib TD's or throw it away and try again. They had just stuffed us on first down.

Jim cant do that in the off season.

Johnny, i think he hesitates too often and it causes him to hold the ball too long. He holds it too long, gets into scramble mode or we get a holding penalty because he's still got the ball. I don't believe these guys ain't getting open at some point in their route, he's just missing the initial window, getting him deeper into the progressions where the defense thinks its more likely to see him force a pass. What do you think?

I wish it were that easy. There are times where he needs to get the ball out on time -but there's no where to go so he has to be able to get the ball out to avoid a loss. There are times where he needs to go right to the checkdown after his 1st read is taken away because it will take too long to move back to the other side of the field. There are times where he moves to himself as the checkdown too quickly. You can only get deep into your progressions if you have time and are confident that you will have time and have the confidence to know that what you're seeing on one side of the field will tell you what's going on on the other side of the field.

As much as i would really like to, I think that request will have to fall on the shoulders of some other folks. Thl, Ncommand....others with game rewind?? I'm headed out of town tomorrow morning and won't return til Saturday and won't be able to get to any film during that time.
