Might be a better offense coach then Chip Kelly. But unlike Kelly his innovation is more with the running game then passing. Took a 3 win Auburn team to the National Title game. But just fired his defensive staff after a down year (8-5) and hired Will Muschamp to run the defense.

Gotcha. Thanks.

I just wish we had a clue as to who Fangio wants to help run the offense. I think it could really cement him as our guy.

I very much agree with this!

Need more than common sense. As of now, a 31 yr old running back is still your best runner, that aint gonna cut it. The offensive can't pass protect. The running game is also suspect, and you can't blame injuries, something is wrong. You have no WR's that any defense considers a threat. There are no screen plays. And most important of all, you have a QB with shaky confidence that's almost destroyed. Sounds like an overhaul to me.

Classic "guy with all the answers that doesn't even watch the team he's talking about" syndrome. Our starting o-line played maybe a combined eight quarters this season so how the hell was injuries NOT a factor? Also, said patchwork o-line gave up the third most sacks in the league so there's that as well.

Granted, Kap didn't play his best but to put it all on him is absurd.

The rest of your post is so ridiculous it's not even worth addressing.

That 31 year old running back keeps rushing for more than 1000 yards.

And, I never really get this "you can't blame injuries" thing. Of course you can. Injuries are a huge issue every single year. Should Cardinals fans feel that way this year? Can't blame injuries? Come on. When Jonathan Martin is getting bull-rushed back on his azz every play as opposed to Anthony Davis holding his ground, that's a huge difference and it's due to injury. When a player who had 14 TD catches last year has a bad back and only makes 2 TD catches, that's a huge difference probably due to injury. When you've got a rookie playing center because the first team guy is gone for the season, that's going to be another difference due to injury.

People need to understand that no single unit on the Niner team this year played worse than the offensive line and injuries had a lot to do with that.
Wish they would have at least interviewed Holmgren. He wants the job and could have shown JBP (jed, baalke, paraage) some things that may have opened their eyes, hire or not.
We wanted Holmgren as a HC, not GM...

It's hard for me to believe that the FO wouldn't even talk to him.

Baalke always does his hw…he wanted to hire a 69 year old Parcells in 2011 but won't talk to a 66 yr old Holmgren now ??

Well, we might not know who Fangio has in mind, but, given that he has already interviewed, the Jed/Baalke/Marathe have to know who he has in mind, but does not appear to be a feeling that he has been "cemented" as the 49ers choice. It just has not come out yet, which means that either: (a) who Fangio had in mind may not have left the 49ers feeling all that comfortable; (b) the 49ers like Fangio's plan but are doing their due diligence, including complying with the Rooney Rule; (c) even if Fangio has a good plan, the 49ers be unsure of going with him due to his close connections with Harbaugh (Tomsula was on the staff prior to Harbaugh, so he may not have the same issues, if it even is one) or (d) a combination of all of the above.
What about the chin?

Last three years in Seattle: 23-24 record with offensive ranks of: 19, 9, & 28.

One problem with this, the offense is a WRECK . It needs a major overhaul, and bring in an OC isn't gonna cut it.

Bringing an offensive coordinator isn't going to cut it? Uh what?

A competent OC isn't enough to fix this offense.

Ok. Please explain what you're getting at here.

Come on. In Holmgren's 17 seasons as an NFL head coach, he had a 174-122, 8 division titles, 3 conference titles and a Super Bowl victory. That's a .588 career winning percentage and it looks a heck of a lot better than the resume of any other candidate people are talking about. The only coach who even gets close is Shanahan.

How about a competent offensive line coach for starters?
