Looks like the Shannahan father/son move i speculated about prior to the season ending is gaining some momentum.

I also wouldn't be upset with Kubiak.

Everyone else whos names are being thrown about wouldnt really get me excited. Of all the other names, i would probably prefer the in house hire of Vic Fangio.

If Cleveland releases Kyle Shanahan why in the world would we want him as our OC??????? If they want him out that means he is a problem.

Am I missing something....Kyle didn't get fired in CLE, right? I thought they were really happy with him.

No he seems to be fine in Cleveland. But people keep saying if Mike Shanahan gets the 49ers job Kyle would be the OC. Well the only way he would be is if Cleveland lets him go and the only way they do that is it he is a problem.

Here what i could see happening, and i mentioned it months back. Kyle as HC, Mike in an assistant HC role. People say it will never happen, but i personally could see something like that happening. Mike gets all the input he wants, but doesn't really have to carry the stess as HC. Kyle gets the opportunity to Grow as the HC and still has experience at his side with his father.

Not happening

Or they could simply hire Mike Shanahan as HC and hire Kyle Shanahan as ASST Head Coach which is a promotion and allows them to hire him.
(or it's also possible that Cleveland may release Kyle as a courtesy since he is the son?)

That is NEVER going to happen.

OK
I'd hire Kubiak.

Not sure if ASST Head Coach counts as a promotion. As I understand it, the NFL considers any position beneath the HC as an assistant coach, regardless of title, and therefore a lateral move that can be blocked by the current team.

Cleveland allowing him out of his contract is what likely would have to happen, although it's hard to see Cleveland doing that. I believe the Texans let Kyle Shanahan out of his contract to join his Dad in Washington, but the HC was Kubiak who is close to them both. Likely was doing them a favor.

I agree. Shanahan scares me a little.

No it isnt.

Asst HC is meaningless.

The NFL recognizes two levels of coach, head coach and assistant coach. If youre not a head coach, youre an assistant coach and a move to anything but head coach is a lateral move.

At this point in their careers, I agree. Kubiak has more mileage left, and he's deserving of another HC opportunity. He did a tremendous job across the board in Baltimore.

Don't think it works like that. Still an assistant coach position. Could only move for head coach

stop with all the ass head coach stuff...and why in the world would Cleveland release him based on courtesy??? That is even more laughable.
Kubiaks offense coordinator should be interesting. Both Greg Knapp (Denver) & Rick Dennison (Baltimore) probably take over the offenses of there current teams.
Kubiak is gonna choke like he always has his playcalling is ehhhh at best

So if shanny Junior is not available who do you think Senior Shanahan could bring in or offensive Cordinator . Or we can just send rooks to Cleveland and exchange for Shanny Junior
