If age is a concern, I think the following would be fine options to consider at OC as well:

Rocky Seto - passing game coordinator for Seattle. I believe he's only 39.
Tom Herman - Ohio State OC/QB Coach. Also only 39.
Matt Nagy - KC Chiefs QB Coach. 36 years old.
Randy Fichtner - Steelers QB Coach. 51, and has OC experience and strong resume developing WRs.

Rocky Seto is not an offensive guy at all, he's their defensive passing game coordinator.

Fichtner is someone I would like a lot if he was available somehow.

I hope it isn't Fangio.

Tom Herman is going to be the next HC of Houston.

Very underwhelming.

Shanahan as HC, Kyle Shanahan as OC (or vice versa) (if they both do really well in his interview and reference checking, etc)Keep the defense staff intact by giving out some raises and perhaps "asst head coach" titles
The more I think about this, the more I'm becoming obsessed with this idea:
2012 RG3 (healthy knee, under the Shanahans): 65.6 CMP%, 8.14 Y/A (best in NFL), 20 TD, 5 INT, 102.4 passer rating; 815 yards rushing, 6.8 Y/A, 7 TD
2012 Alfred Morris: 1,613 yards (2nd in NFL), 4.8 Y/A, 13 TD

I bet Kap and Hyde would absolutely thrive under their system. Couple that with our defense, and we'd be a force to be reckoned with.

My dream outcome would be:
HC - Mike Shanahan
OC - Kyle Shanahan
DC - Vic Fangio

Of course, this is probably a pipe dream for a number of reasons... why would the Browns let Kyle walk to a lateral position? Would Fangio stick around and pass up the opportunity for a head coaching gig somewhere? (be it college or pros) Is Mike even interested in coming back to coaching, or is he just feeling the waters? I think logistically it'd be really hard to pull off, and I really don't think it's going to happen. That would be a tremendous staff though.

Dream, yes. But that would be an ideal situation for the Niners. Also, Kyle could be groomed to take over as HC in a few years, too.

Probably due to the same reservations fans had about Arians . . . why hasn't he been hired as an HC already if he's so good? I'm ready to take a leap of faith with him.

I prefer Shanahan. His work with Steve Young before the SuperBowl against the Chargers shows me how meticulous Shanahan is when it comes to the West Coast playbook when he grilled Steve Young with the playbook until he memorized every aspect of the plays. Kap needs that level of attention to be successful.

If the running game becomes dominant again, and utilize read option with Kap, then I'm cool with Shanny.
Has there been any OCs attached to a fangio hire? If there has I must of missed it.

I won't lie, if Fangio or Tomsula ended up as the head coach, I'd be disappointed. I think Fangio is a guy who is good at his job but ended up in the right place at the right time mostly.

Candidate generating interest under the radar: Gary Kubiak. After (if) #Ravens are out of playoffs, expect #49ers to talk to him. #Jets, too

would be very satisfied with kubiak as HC.

If I had to choose between Kubiak and any of the Shanahans, it'd be Kubiak by a landslide.
With all of these sources being quoted there seems to be little chance we see Vic, Tomsula and Donatell in their current roles. Most likely not moving seems like Tomsula if Vic goes to HC.

we all have our wish lists but mine is predicated on keeping Vic and Tomsula. If we can't make an outside hire without aggravating these ties then Vic is our man.

The difference is that Arians basically had already coached the Colts for nearly an entire season. If anything, his "chuck and duck" offensive philosophy has become more relevant in today's NFL.

He just doesn't do it for me.

This. Younger guy than Mike, never had a defense half as good with the Texans until Schaub decided to go full potato, would bring some NFL caliber assistants to the offense, if the 49ers did lose Fangio, he could replace him with Wade Phillips. I think what he's done with Baltimore in terms of their offense has been absolutely incredible, just a tremendous one year turn around from where they were in 2013.
