Bills also setting up interview with former Broncos and Redskins HC Mike Shanahan that could occur as early as this weekend, per same source. Shanahan confirmed there have been discussions between he and the Bills.

I won't lie, if Fangio or Tomsula ended up as the head coach, I'd be disappointed. I think Fangio is a guy who is good at his job but ended up in the right place at the right time mostly.
I'm of the same opinion. If they are the guys, probably should have really persued a potential trade with Cleveland last year.

Agree but at the risk of losing Vic to HC elsewhere, would you want to keep him here as HC if that's what it took to keep him?

Backup Plan if the 49ers don't hire him?

This. Younger guy than Mike, never had a defense half as good with the Texans until Schaub decided to go full potato, would bring some NFL caliber assistants to the offense, if the 49ers did lose Fangio, he could replace him with Wade Phillips. I think what he's done with Baltimore in terms of their offense has been absolutely incredible, just a tremendous one year turn around from where they were in 2013.

This is an interesting one. Wade Phillips will interview for the #Redskins defensive coordinator opening this week, source says.

On the Kubiak front, I can picture our OL benefitting from zone as well as Hyde/Gore and Kap. That fact alone puts him on my list as an acceptable hire.

At the risk of losing him to who??? Nobody but the 49ers have interviewed him for a head coaching job. Since the 49ers are out of the playoffs, there's nothing stopping teams from doing so.
I feel pretty strongly that the stories about Fangio not staying if he's passed up for HC are merely posturing, trying to obtain some leverage and force the team's hand. As long as they bring in a quality head coach that will basically stay out of his business, I think Fangio stays, there are few places across the NFL where he'd get to work with as much talent as he does with the 49ers, not to mention the existing familiarity with the players. Give him a nice hefty raise and move on.

Hope it is just posturing. We are one facet of the game away in offense. Team like Wash being 2 facets away in both off and def scare me as a place where Vic could go.

How? The 49ers blocked him from interviewing for their DC position, the Redskins have a head coach as well.

You're right! I'm a believer Vic can possibly only be HC in one place...here! Raise time.

Heres the bottom line out of all the coaching candidates being interviewed Roman has yet to be interviewed as a posiible head coach. This speaks volumes as to what the leauge feels about him and his offensive scheme. With all the success the 9ers has had he should be considered a top dog. He is not.

Make sure the new HC is on board with leaving the defense to him, give him a nice raise, give him an AHC title upgrade as well and call it a day.

If you look at the 2013 Texans I believe it was 10 games they lost by 7 points or less. So you have Schaub forgetting how to play QB and the team losing some really close games. Might be more an anomaly on his coaching record then the norm.
