It's quite obvious by the poll percentages that I'm not the only one that thinks Shanahan is the best choice. Shanahan is obviously a great choice for the short term. He is also the best choice long term because I believe he is capable of grooming someone for the future. Remember Kubiak is a product of Shanhan, not the other way around. What offensive coordinator from any of these other candidates have gone on to be successful coaches in the NFL?

He is the big name people always want the big name. He has one winning season in his last 6 seasons. Who's he gonna groom? Whats wrong with getting a young offensive minded OC? Shanny was one at one pt....

Shanahan has ONE playoff win since Elway retired. I think we can do better then that.

Not in this coaching drought.

Worst year to fire your successful coach.

There are plenty of good candidates, some of whom aren't even being interviewed. Look at any year, and tell me about the can't miss coaches with no weaknesses. . NT exageration never ceases to amaze me.

I don't see how so... There's a plethora of candidates this year, both proven and unproven.
Makes me ill watching these playoffs knowing the 49ers would beat almost anyone if Bowman was healthy.

Hopefully he's got an even bigger briefcase if they have to go up to Seattle eventually.

Yah no kidding. If the 9ers would've faced Carolina it would've been round two for the 9ers in the playoffs lol.

Injuries frickin suck.

Yes he did, but also from a bunch of other coaches over the years.

I'll give you that...although, I have to admit, I'm very much warming up to the idea of Fangio.

Sure does...if we just would've had half the injuries we had we probably go 11-5. If we would have been completely healthy, I think we would have had a 13-3, 14-2 type season and be getting ready for a divisonal game. I also imagine this thread wouldn't exist.
