Martin can get to the 2nd level quick so him at guard would work, Boone is athletic enough he could as well. Thomas at about 305 is athletic enough... I'd say the only guy I'm worried about is Davis like you said Shao.
And like you said with the zone blocking scheme they had in denver and houston all these years you can throw any rb back there and get 1000 yards so you dont have to invest much or pay a rb can always go next man up. Same with the offensive line... next man up dont have to re-sign guys for 40 mil like we did with Davis with a good scheme they can throw most athletic lineman in there and get the job done. Shanahan and Kubiak would probably bring in a zone.
Ricky Wagner is hardly a quick footed guy and he had a very strong year with the Ravens. Davis would be fine.
I'm pretty sure Schiano ran a variation of the ZBS with TB. I wonder if Davis did that at Rutgers...

That's true good point. You would think Assistant HC/OC would be legal since it's an upgrade. Or is he assistant hc already, can't find who Pettine's is.
Anyways, I'd rather have Kubiak/Dennison over Mike/Kyle anyways. I think Gase is still my number one option wouldn't mind going young and swinging for the fences although this team is probably built for a win now coach like Kubiak but it's not the 80s anymore young guys win day 1 in all sports. To me the hot trend is young coaches these days in the NFL, NBA, MLB... vs the retread coaches. Either way I'm anxious to see what happens whether it's Shanahan/Kubiak, Gase/Hamilton, Fangio/Bowles/Austin

Yes he did. Most of the OL has experience in that sort of blocking scheme.

No it isn't. Assistant HC doesn't mean anything, its an honorary title. As far as the NFL is concerned, there are two types of coaches, head coach and then everyone else.
So whether you call a coach a QB coach, an offensive coordinator, a linebacker's coach, an assistant head coach, the GrandMaster of Defense, it's all the same thing as far as the NFL is concerned and would still be considered a lateral move.

So you can't hire a QB coach from another team to be your OC because that would be a lateral move by NFL standards?

I think shannahan being here two days after a full interview when he had a phone interview is a sign. He could easily bring trestman in as oc over his son. Trestman did good things with Steve young also

Agree. Not saying he's the favorite or anything, but it is a sign there is very real mutual interest for both sides.

I'm on board with shanahan. Along with 40% of the others wanting him more than anyone else

Free chips and salsa if he doesn't sign. No cost for a dinner if so

But 40% just means he's the most popular vote and doesn't mean he's the best fit, is what I was told. I tried repeatedly to give my reasons why he fits Jed ' s criteria, i guess Jed thinks so too.
