He's our best shot at a home run. Whoa. Do we really need that? This roster has been successful being run by a sub-optimal offensive staff. Do we need a "home run?" That sounds gimmicky to me. Bill Walsh spent 14 years as an assistant before getting the reins. I don't see Gase having a history of fixing different kinds of problems. ALso, does he play nice with others? SOunds like he wants a puppet for an OC. Is that what we need? An HC that knows it all hiring a yes man oc? Sounds like we just came from there.

I want Gase to call the plays himself

It's funny that who ever the new hot topic is takes over the voting on this post. Gase got hot people voted gase. Before he was hot no one voted for him. Shanny is still my vote. Gase is my second.

cool story

Right? Since it came out that he was the favorite his percentage jumped 7% in the poll lol.

They met him in Denver, so they are the ones that left. lol

If the coaches the FO want don't accept the job they better make damn sure they don't also lose Fangio
Getting rid of the entire offensive staff minus Rathman is one way to slightly ease the sting of losing Harbaugh. Roman gone, Solari hopefully gone, Mangini interviewing for other jobs hopefully he's gone. Just Morton yet and Chryst. I'd like a fresh new staff with Gase as HC/possibly OC, Rathman at RB coach and the rest is up to Gase/Baalke. As for the defense if we lose Fangio I'd make Donatell DC before Tomsula but hopefully both would work. Also, if Fangio leaves and Donatell become DC then we could bump Greg Jackson up to DB coach and he's probably stay over being DB coach at Michigan. Like I said I thought it was going to be Gase or McDaniels but I figured Gase over McDaniels because with what Jed "went through with Harbaugh" we wouldn't need another arrogant (jim is arrogant in a good way to me), difficult coach. Gase has that 10 year teacher written all over him unlike these older coaches and retreads. My preference right now would be Gase, Kubiak, Fangio, then Bowles or Austin but both are very intriguing to me.
If Shanahan is motivated and excited to come here maybe we should give him a shot, Gase doesn't really seem interested he is trying to stay in Denver, won't have to move his family and is in a situation he is familiar with

Owners/GM: Denvers owner is I'll and Elway will spend to win now. York is young and Baalke is good at the draft. Why did they let good coach leave?

Players: Peyton returning is exciting but what next year after. D Thomas and J Thomas may leave. Coaching Kaepernick to raise his game would be intriguing for a guy trying to prove he belongs.

Coaches: Denver has made it clear that they may not want entire staff back. Fox and Del Rio may compete for their services. 49ers have defensive staff pretty much set. May lose or two but Some offensive coaches as well.

Conclusion: If I were Gase I'd take 49ers job. Provided York and Trent are upfront with Me why coach left. Having young QB already in place and less cap trouble would be reason Passing on another possible year with Manning. York almost same age maybe a plus.

I hope we hear Gase's decision today.

I love Jimmy T but if Gase stays in Denver and we opt for Tomsula I'm gonna be depressed.

Has he been offered anything? People are acting like it is guaranteed Broncos and 49ers have both made offer to Gase, when there is no such confirmation out there.

Yes - I think a long second interview is an indication we are interested but it's not like the Harbaugh situation where it was well publicised that we had made an offer.
I wants offense, Gase could be a massive flop but the prospect of Fangio or Tomsula bores the pants off me so I'll go with the potential home run
Today should be an interesting day.

I am pretty sure one way or the other we will find out within today. York and Baalke may even try to force a decision cos they know if Gase says no they will need to scramble fast.

The issue is with either Josh McDaniels or Dan Quinn, they may well have to wait 3 more weeks, not to mention there will be competition too.

That leaves Shanahan or from within.

Like I said, I will be happy to take Mike Shanahan as HC, thus hopefully keeping Fangio as DC and Kyle Shanahan can come in as OC.
