The only reason I think he stays with Denver is his loyality to Manning.
Is more than that, is just a much more stable job especially if Manning retires which could mean they may well enter into rebuild mode. If that was the situation, the expectations would be far lower.
The 9ers' job is exactly the opposite. Baalke said this is a reload not a rebuild. Jed York said is Super Bowl or bust. Fans are pis*ed that York fired Harbaugh. Let's face it, the expectations are sky high. Can you imagine what will happen if we miss the playoffs again next year ? I think the Harbaugh supporters would explode !!
Good points. I'm starting to think he stays with Denver. Like you said, far less expectations.
Less expectations? Their coach got fired after reaching the playoffs 4 years in a row including a trip to the Super Bowl. They mortgaged their salary cap to win now. How will expectations be lower?
They just jettisoned their entire staff and Manning will likely not be back. They damn well better have lower expectations
So they EXPECT Gase to hire a brand new staff where he can pick and choose whoever he wants from Harbaughs old staff? They EXPECT him to manage the salary cap hell they are in where as we are healthy cap wise and have the arguably the deepest roster in the NFL. Don't you think Gase EXPECTS to win when he starts his coaching career? We went 8-8 with 20 players on IR and a QB who had the worse year of his career. They have D Thomas, J Thomas, and Welker who all happen to be free agents and how good will Sanders be without those guys and maybe without Manning. I EXPECT him to chose the 9ers over the Broncos.
