Per Rapoport, the Broncos have NOT had deep talks with Gase and that Baalke is looking to fly Gase out soon as there is a lot of interest by both parties and there is a chance it could be a done deal as early as today.

Maybe Denver isn't as interested as the media thinks. Maybe Peyton's non-commital to return for 2015 is swaying Gase to be a 49er.

But won't be surprised either there is a last minute announcement that Gase stays in Denver.

why would you change all , then go back and get your OC and let the rest of the assistants coaches go ? I think Denver moved on from Gase.

Good question! I think Elway may be helping Gase in his negotiating with SF...why not? It helps his image around the NFL...coach friendly even though you are firing everyone! LOL!

If Elway knows Manning is leaving then they may be in a perfect position to revamp the team, including the salary structure...if they are in cap hell as some have indicated. Elway may not think Gase is ready for that, but in SF he would be stepping into a ready made position for a young HC--intact D that was top five, underperforming O that you can turn around immediately, and a GM who will get what you need. SF seems ideal for Gase, whereas Denver may need a more experienced team builder.
Other than not being a head coach before, can we list the pros and cons of this dude, Gase?

Pros:
  • Super detailed oriented above and beyond mentality

This is going to be real good for Keapernick. This and the fact he is working with Warner. I expect big things.

Yeah, it's most likely be Donatell if Fangio's vangina is hurt.

This. Donatell has 7 years of of DC experience. It wont be Tomsula if Fangio goes.

49ers already got a nice Defense and now with gase turning 49ers offense like the broncos offense, I think it should be nice team

Yeah if we can keep continuity on the defensive coaching side and our offense improves, I don;t see why this is a bad thing.

Lets see what the new HC does with the coaching staff before we can say the D is going to be sweet.
Sooooo.... With Gase being hired, Vangio and Justin smith will retire. Then Vangio will be replaced with Dennis Allen?

And a good defense to stop wilson. Will we have that in 2015, we will see.

I have to hand it to Denver though...They started with hot passing attack, but implemented great rushing as the season progressed. I wonder why the change.
Manning is old, washed up, and injured.

I kind of posted about my reasons earlier. But, just say even if Manning retires and the Broncos go into rebuild mode, that will give Gase much more time to make things work as expectations would be far lower.

But, if he goes to the 9ers, as Baalke said this is a reload not a rebuild and York said is Super Bowl or bust, that means Gase will pretty much have to get the team back to the playoffs right away. Can you imagine what will happen if we miss the playoffs again next year ? The fans will explode especially the Harbaugh supporters who hated York's move in firing him.

In other words, the 9ers job is far more risky.
If he would choose a rebuild and a stay in salary cap purgatory for the next few year just because its less risky, he probably isn't head coach material. I doubt he chooses that because I believe he is.

On top of that, Elway just fired a coach that went to the playoffs 4 years in a row, you don't think he might have some unrealistic expectations.

Finally, look at Harbaugh and Fox. If you do your job, have success and get fired mainly because you couldn't win a super bowl, then you will have no problem finding a job.

You are assuming Gase will have success. If we struggle even to get back to the playoffs, who knows the guy can be gone in 2 years. Harbaugh and Fox are different, we made it to the playoffs 3 years in a row and the Broncos made it to the playoffs 4 years in a row.

On top of that, don't forget we are talking about the NFC West here, is damn hard even to make it as a wild card. If we go anywhere in the vicinity of 8-8 and miss the playoffs, it will put a dent in his reputation and resume, not to mention he will ultimately lose his job.

I am in no way saying this is going to happen, the point is whichever way you look at it, the 9ers job is no doubt much more risky.
No, I am assuming that GASE should believe that he will have success with our rosters so expectations shouldn't really matter to him.

Also, you said, "Harbaugh and Fox are different, we made it to the playoffs 3 years in a row and the Broncos made it to the playoffs 4 years in a row." So which team has higher expectations?

I give you the NFC west point but any coach that is scared away by competition, I don't want anyway.

  • Two years with Manning and he got Manning some of his best years in production. This also includes Manning's injured games.
