I would go wade Phillips as DC. Someone that has been a HC. Surrounding the young HC with experience. Maybe a Morhinweg as OC also.

Manning has a definite ceiling on his "pitch count". If they literally throw him out, his range will drop to ten yards. Plus, you have to be able to run the ball. You're not going to make it throwing every down, period. Look what happened to the 49ers with predictable playcalling. That will happen to everyone if they don't at least try to be proficient in all sides of the ball.

On top of that, don't forget we are talking about the NFC West here, is damn hard even to make it as a wild card. If we go anywhere in the vicinity of 8-8 and miss the playoffs, it will put a dent in his reputation and resume, not to mention he will ultimately lose his job.
I am in no way saying this is going to happen, the point is whichever way you look at it, the 9ers job is no doubt much more risky.
He will have success. Again, we are 25th in points...worst second half team ever, 1 4Q TD, zero ability to make an adjustment, etc...all strengths of Gase. At the end of the day, all we need to do it bump up from 25th to 15th and we're an automatic playoff team assuming the defense remains top 5. Nobody is going to fire Gase if his first year is 8-8 as long as we can see incremental improvements. Most offenses take 2-4 years to fully install. Remember, this past off-season, Roman noted that our full offense had been installed. Unfortunately, that offense had been figured out last year. Gase will have to show incremental improvements with an upward trend during the installation. It's going to take some time but he's gong to adapt to the personnel we have and the new personnel we bring in via Baalke.

Other than not being a head coach before, can we list the pros and cons of this dude, Gase?
Pros:
- Super detailed oriented above and beyond mentality
Cons:
untested, no head coaching experience, unsure if can he command a locker room
Pros:
- Is said to work great with other minds and is flexible.
- Well respected once people see him work

Sounds like for the 2nd time, our FO pulled in the #1 HC on the market. Obvioulsy, Kubiak and McDaniels removed themselves from the running and we weren't interested in an older Shanahan and Holmgren.
Adam Gase - #1 young HC
Teryl Austin - intriguing
Todd Bowles - intriguing
Vic Fangio - good fallback option
Josh McDaniels - pulled himself out
Dan Quinn - intriguing if you could wait 3 more weeks
Rex Ryan - hell no!
Mike Shanahan - good fallback option
Translation: Suicide fans will still not be happy
I'm not on the Gase bandwagon at all, but it's promising that Baalke is 2 for 2 in hiring the #1 HC candidate, and in both years there has been questions/issues surrounding the front office's apptitude. Baalke is definitely a top five GM.
Good man!
I can understand the Broncos fans dislike for Gase... However, when I start reading their posts, it makes less inclined to use their pole as an accurate barometer for judgement.
But, in the end, I know Baalke is far more gifted in these evaluations than myself. Sooo, I'll enjoy the ride. As long as it's not HaRoman... I'm a happy camper.
Is he really the #1 guy? No one else seems to be going after him, that I've heard.

Captain Spellcheck? Can't see Fangio retiring. Why should he? He can leave obviously and would surely be replaced by Donitell.
Smith will sit it out for the spring then get bored.

No, its just the "hire really old guys" crowd that is irate. There is a many here that wanted Gase all along. He has consistently been one of the most popular candidates.

All speculation.
Just like the Harbaugh stuff that turned out to be 100% true.

Well if Gase is hired and it doesn't pan out, your looking at at least 2-3 years of no playoffs before a new HC is probably brought in again. I doubt they fire him after only 1 year.

Fangio has a year left on his contract and I doubt he will walk away from that money. Are you mispelling Fangio's name on purpose for some reason?

Fangio will be fine as DC but I'd like to see Gase bring in an experienced OC to be a sounding board of sorts.

JH took us from 6-10 to 13-3 without an offseason. I'm guessing Gase should be able to do the same 8-8 to 15-1...right?
...don't try and rationalize it, it's a joke.

This right here....manning had 5500 yards and 55 tds as a 37-38 year old qb. That is video game type numbers.
