not a strong comparison but still a worth one, imho:
Mike McCarthy haven't never ever been a HC before he became one with the Packers. 6 years as an OC with the Saints and Niners before that. Worked out very well if you ask me.

I'm willing to give Gase a chance, just because he's an offensive guy and regardless if he doesn't get enough credit because everyone wants to use the Manning Excuse...at the end of the day Manning is still using Gase's playbook. One thing is for certain, he wants to call plays and that means the play calls doesn't have to travel around the world just to get to the QB.

"By being around him and just talking to him, I learned that he was eager and was willing to work and learn," Mariucci added. "That was pretty clear that was going to be his passion, and his ultimate goal was to climb the ladder as coach."

His passion for the game sounds like Harbaugh to me.

With just much more focus and expertise on the offensive side of the ball and Gase comes from a much better offensive philosophy (compared to the Bo Schemblacher school of offense...i.e. passing game is an afterthought).

The last 2 are BIG cons

And none of them are based in fact.

ok

Hypotheticals

IF Gase gets hired and it means- Fangio leaves, Justin Smith retires and Gore goes to another team

then are you still in favor of this hiring?

Grass is greener on the other side syndrome.

Disagree completely. If you go to the Buffalo Bills website, you'll see quite a few fans excited about Roman's style and direction. We lived through it, so we know what Roman really brings to the table.

I'd take that survey seriously, just like I would expect Bills fans to take any survey we had regarding Roman's ineptitude seriously

Remember when we all really wanted Mike McCarthy as head coach? I don't.

What's that have to do with anything ?

Seattle would love nothing more than a three-peat celebration on our 50 yard line.

Pros:
  • Is said to work great with other minds and is flexible.
  • Well respected once people see him work

Pros:
  • Will stay on his side of the ball!!! That definitely works with this team!

Pros:
  • Said to be one of the smartest offensive minds in football
  • Managed to navigate between Elway and Fox with no negative results to his reputation
  • Handled Manning's ego

Cons:
  • Couldn't get Manning to look good against SEA in the SB.
  • 1 SB loss as an OC

I think that the Bills remember Roman as the head coach of a team that went to three straight NFCC. The fans remember the last time we played them, when a Roman coached Alex Smith hung 40 + on them.

Anyone check out if there is a 3-year running, Fire Adam Gase thread over there?

Assuming that Gase will install a completely new system, I would not consinder us as a SB-contender next season.
