Why don't we stop messing around interviewing these coaches that won't win us a super bowl and go after Jimmie Johnson? Make him the highest paid coach in football. He'll give us another ring in 2-3 years!

He seems pretty content working one day per week and fishing the rest of the time.

No not lateral, it's an obvious promotion. Most teams will not block a coach from being promoted on another team unless he isn't all that interested in leaving to begin with, or sometimes if it's to a division rival. No team wants to earn the reputation of preventing coaches from progressing in their career.
Although we did that to Donatell twice.
Likely because he wasn't all that interested in leaving. We have allowed him to interview this year. Why now considering his record when he may have done his best job yet? Because now he's interested....

Candidate generating interest under the radar: Gary Kubiak. After (if) #Ravens are out of playoffs, expect #49ers to talk to him. #Jets, too
would be very satisfied with kubiak as HC.
If I had to choose between Kubiak and any of the Shanahans, it'd be Kubiak by a landslide.
Agreed. He's my #1 choice followed by Gase.
Gase and Kubes are my no. 1 and no. 2 candidates. Either one of those guys + Fangio at DC would be ... Hyde and Kap would thrive in his system. Hope we get the opportunity to interview him very soon so for today...Go Steelers!

Chris Ault is 68 and effectively retired. Not sure he's interested in an OC role.

This would be an absolute fail in every area.

Torrey takes the top off on that naked boot. Even Smith Sr. and Aiken have stretched the field. Paging Ellington, Patton or draft pick to be.....need a speed WR in this scheme.
Sammie Coates, working with a competent WR Coach. Bewm!
It's a good thing Morton is gone. I was elated to read that he is expected to join Harbaugh at Michigan. In other news though, Tim Drevno was hired on as Harbaugh's OC there. I wish we could've had him as consideration for OC here after how well he did with USC's OL. I'm cautiously optimistic for us though, and hope in the end all the pieces fall in place next year for this team to turn back into the dominant force it SHOULD be.

I think kubiak did a really good job in Houston. When he took over in 2006, houston had fallen back to almost expansion level again. He had schab playing really well til the tail end of his tenure. I think they peaked in 2012 when they started like 11-1, but got drilled by NE on a Monday night and it was never the same after that.
Kukiak has issues he will have to explain during the interview but if he has learned from his mistakes he would be a really good coach for the 49ers.
What issues? Health issues?

Health issues. Why did Matt Schaub go from a 90.7 QB rating to a 73 QB rating. What do you see as the reason you only had two 10 win season in a 8 year head coaching career. Do you see yourself as a offensive coordinator or a head coach?

I'm liking Kubiak (this week) but a candidate who may surface at some point, Mark Helfrich from Oregon. He didn't take the bait but the seed was planted here...

If Oregon puts up another 50 burger in the final, I think it's inevitable for his name to come up.

Chip Kelly is sitting at home right now because his team has the #28 defense and is #32 in time of possession. You want that kind of 49ers team?
