Would be a good hiring for AZ, but advantage goes to us. We know his system but he wouldn't know our new offense.

Short quick passes when the DB's are playing 10 yards off the ball. Considering their lack of dominant pass rushers and how much Bowles relied on the blitz, I don't think it would work out so well for Fangio with his conservative playcalling. I think pretty much anyone they get will be a downgrade because Bowles was an utterly perfect fit for their personnel. Ray Horton was a good defensive coordinator before him and Bowles did a heck of a lot better.
We have no idea what Gase thinks of Kaepernick. If he's anything less than fully confident, it's very likely he'd say to Trent ok but I need a high draft pick to back up or compete with Kaepernick, perhaps with a name or two attached to target. Baalke would certainly agree.

Why would i be sold? How about the gift to Ed Reed?

Because his offensive performance in that game was more than enough to get the MVP award had the Niners won. In other words, if the defense had been better than horrible, the Niners would have won with their 31 points, he would have been the game MVP and you and almost every other Niner fan would be sold. If you want to pretend you wouldn't have been sold, that's fine. Go ahead.

One thing I can say I really like about the idea of Gase becoming HC is that Grant Cohen doesn't like the idea. One of the problems I have with Fangio becoming HC is that Grant Cohen thinks it's a good idea.

I do agree with Cohn Jr on this though, he's absolutely right about the identity of this offense being run first, even if he's been trolling about promoting Solari if we keep Fangio. Not just that we are built to run first, but we succeed at it when we commit to it. If you hear what AD and Staley said, it's not about change and innovation, it's about getting back to our identity and going back to what works.

Pairing a Top 5 defense with an offensive mind that helped guide the Top 5 offense could be dangerous. I am cautiously optimistic about Gase--ESPECIALLY if we can convince Vic to stay. If Gase has any sense of how to use our personnel and is able to get plays off in time then I think the sky is the limit for our offense.

even if fangio goes,, we are more than fine, we got great players who can play in any scheme, i think we still got the d line coach and in my opinion, the best coach on our team last year was the secondary guy. i wanted a older guy like , well it does not matter,, but if this young offensive guy is the guy they think can do it,, i am more than fine with it. fresh ideas, new ideas, a guy who can work with our qb to make him better, who can bring out the best in our team on offense,,, if we keep fangio that is just gravy,,,, if not,, its not tragic, our defense will still be top tier in my opinion.... i just can not IMAGINE, our offense can be any worse than what it was last year.... oh and the o line coach can to buffalo to,, take boone and lupati with you

Vic isn't leaving. When you are the highest paid at what you do, you don't leave that spot until the money runs out.
joe is right,, yes a head job would be the big goal,, but its all about the money honey, plus he knows he has good players here

He may actually take a pay cut, taking into account stress and pay vs other coaches, if he becomes a head coach.

For the money he's making now, unless he gets paid phat as a head coach, he ain't going to do it.

FWIW, #49ers haven't talked about Quinn for several days. All signs point toward Gase at this point.

This guy is dumb. yesterday he had Quinn as the guy we want while Baalke was in a 8 hour meeting with Gase.

I don't remember him saying that.
Somebody kept posting that BR was reporting that Quinn is who 49ers want.

It was this:

Lots of ifs in that equation and I don't think we will have to think about the answers. Quinn would probably be pursued unless Kubiak is open to interviews.

He was quoted to saying he has ran a 3-4 but "its been awhile"

Well maybe he is worth checking out if Vic goes full potato and leaves....you think him and Davis could hug it out?

Thanks for the link! as far as Davis And Schwartz im sure they can coexist and if not oh well.
The more I read about Gase the more I like it. Every position he's coached he's gotten the absolute most out of those players (Brandon Lloyd, John Kitna, Tim Tebow) and while I initially discredited him for having the easiest job in sports (OC for Peyton), there's something to be said that Peyton's best year ever was under Gase. What are the odds that any player has their best year at age 39. That says something. He comes highly recommended and respected by highly respected players and coaches, his only real knock is his age but at the end of the day he really couldn't have done much more with the opportunities he's gotten and if we see him as a longterm investment then his age is a good thing (ex. Mike Shannahan likely won't be able to coach in 5 years best case).

While I would prefer the continuity of Fangio staying as DC if he does leave then honestly f**k him. He has no right to dictate our HC hiring process with these ultimatums of who to hire and quite frankly I wouldn't want a power player like that on the team under a new HC. No one can argue that Fangio doesn't have a top 3 talented defense and when you actually break down what he brings from a schematic standpoint it really isn't anything unique. We all forget the times we were sick of him for his bend but don't break philosophy and lack of blitzes (vs guys like Bowles and Zimmer who have extremely creative blitz concepts). He hasn't gotten a HC interview request from another team and is the highest paid DC in football coaching a top 3 talented defense. If that's not good enough for him then good riddance.

I think AZ will go after Dick Lebeau no?

Music to our ears!
Jeff Deeney ‏@PFF_Jeff

Broncos offense not as YAC-based as many believe. 59.6% of Manning's yards came through the air, second highest number (Kap third at 59.3%).

I hope Solari stays. If they could bring in Sparano that would be huge, hell even as an offensive coordinator if Gase is going to call his own plays anyway. He needs the maximum amount of experience to rely on, hopefully a guy like Sparano who has been a head coach, experienced assistants like Fangio....etc.
