Maybe if Manning retires Gase will bring him in as assistant QB and OC coach? lol

I do agree with Cohn Jr on this though, he's absolutely right about the identity of this offense being run first, even if he's been trolling about promoting Solari if we keep Fangio. Not just that we are built to run first, but we succeed at it when we commit to it. If you hear what AD and Staley said, it's not about change and innovation, it's about getting back to our identity and going back to what works.

I don't even think he's on top of things in that regard. That last two serious O-line draftees are better suited to pass blocking and zone blocking than the existing system. And arguably the best run blocker in the group, Iupati, was also the worst pass blocker and is probably moving on to another team this season. I think Cohen is silly to assume things always stay the same as in, "we're this and we're going to stay this."

ya I get that, I know the Baalke has laid the groundwork for flexibility on offense with the last couple drafts, but we're talking about something which was proven to work over the last 4 years (at least when we committed to it) vs something unproven

Rt@49ers_Source The 49ers will name Broncos OC Adam Gase thier new Coach. Which means DC Vic Fangio could leave and become AZ's new DC.

so what, if true, we just carry on. i think we have better players than the cards do . i am in the minority here but i never cared one bit about former players and coaches going to a divisional rival,, well i did with charles haley but that was the first and only time i ever cared. why>? cuz we can not control it and if we just take care of things we can control, that stuff does not matter. fangio stepped into a pretty sweet deal with us in regards to our people and he also has a good d line coach and excellant secondary coach on staff with him

I have almost no doubt Manning would develop into a a great offensive coach later in life.

Only about 500,000 times.

Oh ok lmao ... pretty good amount of times I see, maybe the folks that don't like the team hiring him can re-read it 500,000 times and give him a chance.

Right, what are the 49ers going to do without a guy who was incredibly mediocre prior to coming the 49ers. I like Fangio, I think he's pretty good, but I also think the talent on this team as well as the offensive philosophy has helped him out quite a bit.

Prior to the 49ers, Fangio was known for defenses that got worse every single year, I hope he stays but if he has a bug up his butt, he can hit bricks.
Or Fangio failed in his several attempts and ended up being great, lots of coaches fail their first or several gigs before becoming great.

Simply put, Fangio would get the most out of the AZ guys. He is a good coach.
I wouldn't put to much stock in what local TV sports reporters are saying. I would imagine they would be some of the lest connected people.

Could Fangio just leave? and then sign with whoever? Or if he leaves does that mean he forfeits his season?

No, the 49ers would have to allow him to leave first.

Gase's father-in-law is New Orleans Saints assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt, who gave Gase permission to marry his daughter the first time they met.

Gase told the story during Super Bowl week that he'd been dating Jennifer Vitt, whom he met at a golf tournament in Columbus, Ohio, for three months before meeting Joe Vitt at the 2008 Senior Bowl.

Gase was having dinner with Vitt, Saints coach Sean Payton, General Manager Mickey Loomis and Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Matt Sheldon when the other three left the table — leaving Gase alone with Vitt.

"I'm kind of like, 'What's going on here?' " Gase, a graduate assistant at LSU from 2000-02 under Nick Saban, said laughing. "So he gives me permission to marry Jen. I didn't even ask him.

"So I'm leaving the Senior Bowl, and I call Jen and say, 'Hey, your dad gave me permission to marry you,' and she goes, 'What ... you asked him?' I told her no. I don't know if it was too many vinos or what."

Three months later, Gase proposed to Jennifer Vitt.

"I was like, 'I don't think I have a choice now,' " Gase said with a smile. "I'm in."

When asked if he's ever been intimidated by his father-in-law, who is intense and fiery on the practice field and in games, since that first meeting, Gase laughed.

"There may, or may not, be some rumors going around that he did a lot of investigating on me before we met — which isn't surprising if you know Joe," he said. "He made sure his daughter was not getting in involved with any bad guys."

The couple now has three children, which has allowed Gase to see the softer side of his father-in-law.

"It's very rare," Gase said when asked if he's ever seen Vitt relax. "If my kids are around — we've got three of them now — he'll be good. He's good.

"My 4-year-old daughter, McKenzie, can get him to do whatever she wants. He's a pushover when it comes to her. … He's got nothing."
