we need to give it to Fangio. Make Donatell the DC. And get a good OC.

Fangio as HC - the defense will remain solid and competitive to keep the team in games. He would just need to bring in an OC we all hope can improve the offensive production. None of us know who this is going to be but Fangio knows this is the issue of the team so I'm sure he has someone in mind. If the niners do go with a DC as HC, it would be hard for me to believe they pass up on Fangio.

An offensive mind as HC - None of us know if bringing in an offensive mind fixes this offense right off the bat. It may take a couple of years. Also bringing in an offensive mind, the defense could take a step back because either Fangio walks because he was passed up or the new coach brings in his own DC. Baalke said this is a re-tooling year, not rebuilding. To me, bringing in a new coach and possibly new staff is sort of rebuilding.

Who would he bring in as OC that we "hope" will improve the offense? The issue was scoring pts....he has been coaching for 35 years and never had a HC opportunity and isn't drawing any interest around the league for HC jobs (none so far). I do agree if (hope they don't) they go DC to HC he would be the pick.

Fangio is signed though the 2015 year and the only way he walks is if they let him go or he takes a HC job elsewhere. How about the grab a offense minded HC to fix what the real problem is and keep Vic as DC?? He isn't going anywhere else unless a big ego HC (Shanny) wants to put in his guys...that's other reason I want Gase. I don't see him re-tooling both sides of the ball, but I see Mike doing that.

I can't see Fangio being happy with a whole new staff, while he stays DC. If that happened we would prob let Fangio go and just promote Donatell.

Even bringing in Gase doesn't gaurantee Fangio stays put either, as with Shanny. The only way to gaurantee he stays is if he's made HC.

So you want to throw out the last 4 years he coached

I'm not saying he is a awful coach and I agree Washington is a awful place to coach based on the FO, but I just don't get why everyone would be in love with this hire?

Throw in the fact that everyone is saying they want a successor in place before he even starts coaching this team. I just find it kinda weird how everyone is planning on the next coach after him lol. I don't see how that is a good long term plan.

Naw, I'm just adding the flip side of the coin to some peoples arguments against his coaching abilities

Shanny is a great coach but he sucks as a GM

Gotcha I agree he has been a good coach in the past. I just don't like all the talk of a successor before he has even coached a down...it's like they have to find 2 head coaches lol.
As you read the various blogs on Bay Area and national sportswriter's websites, you'll see quite a few fans and analysts calling for an offensive-minded head coach, saying that's the answer to fix the Niner's offense. My answer to that is not so fast...we had Harbaugh for 4 years and the offense regressed. Look at the head coaches still in the playoffs...3/4 of them have defensive backgrounds: Belichick, John Harbaugh (combo of ST's & defense), Carroll, Rivera, Fox & Pagano. Only Garrett and McCarthy have an offensive history. I say it's more about the philosophy and relationship between the head coach and his OC that matter the most. Those two coaches must be in synch with each other. Five of the six defensive-minded playoff head coaches have that. Carolina's still developing that chemistry between Rivera and his OC, but they're in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Think it's going to come down to Fangio or Shanahan
I'm a big prediction guy.

I think it's going to be either Mike Shanahan HC and son, OC plus staff or Vic Fangio HC, Tomsula/Donatell/Rex Ryan promoted to DC and I have no clue on his connections/plans for OC and offensive coaching staff.

Anyone else willing to take a shot?

As to my other hopes, I like Holmgren, Kubiak and Gase.

thats a tough decision if it comes down to that.
I'm on the Fangio bandwagon here. I think he would be a great head coach.

Right the only guarantee he stays if he is made HC, but that doesn't solve our offensive problem which is a bigger problem then keeping Vic in my opinion. Worst case scenario is losing Vic and promoting Tomsula or Donatell (both have learned defense scheme under Vic).

Vic has never been involved with the offense at all in his career....and honestly I don't think he leaves unless he is let go by new HC or if someone hires him as a HC (nothing so far). He is signed though 2015 and is one of the highest (if not the highest) paid DC in the league.

I mean who in your mind re-tools the staff more Gase or Mike? I think Mike brings in his guys and Gase focuses more on the offensive side of the ball while keeping Vic and the staff in place. Just my opinion

If its Fangio or Tomsula. Yes. If not they wait. Gase, Quinn, McDaniels and Kubiak are still in the playoffs.

I want Fangio, or Shanhan Or Kubiak. I think any of those 3 would be great Hires.

I think it should be Fangio HC, Donatell DC, and Unknown OC.

But knowing York, it'll probably be, Shanahan HC, Shanahan OC, and Fangio DC.

I think it's Shanahan, but I hope Kyle has no part in it.
