My concern is, if we basically write Fangio off, and go with Shanahan or Gase, then our defense could fall off badly. Fangio could leave, on another mutual parting with the front office. They could try to make Donatell the new DC, but who knows how well that will pan out. We'll lose many more FA's over the coming years, and this team takes a heavy fall back to earth. I just don't think you need to hand to keys to someone outside the organization this time. Fangio is the guy who has the highest chance of righting the ship and keeping everyone on board. If you bring Shanahan in, you're pretty much kissing our defensive team good bye. This is just a thought.

Why would Fangio leave as DC? He is signed through 2015 (is one of the highest paid DC in the league) the players and FO love him and there has been ZERO interest for him as a HC besides in SF...

You think he would leave a talented defensive roster & not get paid as much money just to be a DC somewhere else?

This. What are his other options? Why would he leave, particularly if the new head coach is laissez faire on defense as much as Harbaugh was.

Jcool, think we'll hear something by mid week?

If its Fangio or Tomsula. Yes. If not they wait. Gase, Quinn, McDaniels and Kubiak are still in the playoffs.

The question is how long Trent/Jed want to go without a HC. They initially said 7-10 days but if their waiting for someone in the playoffs, it could be almost a month.
I think they said 2 to 3 weeks with 7-10 days of actually conducting interviews. They can talk to some coaches while still in the playoffs within certain rules, but they can not only not hire them, but they can not make an offer until their teams are done.

What I'd like but probably won't happen:

HC: Gase
OC: Knapp
DC: Vic

Gase basically re-tools offensive side of the ball bring in who he wants and for the most part gives the defense side to Vic Baalke gets all the control for personal and we win SB 50 in SF

Knapp would probably get promoted to OC in Denver.

Or he rolls with Gase to SF, Manning isn't getting any younger might be time to jump ship before Den sinks Plus he knows SF (QB coach and OC 1998-2003)
I'd cry is they hire Shanahan

We honestly might not know if he was. Its not like they have to ask permission to interview him. Realistically we only know of the ones that they have asked to interview which often ends up being made public.

Last two Manning OC's: McCoy (current HC), Gase (will probably be a HC). I think Knapp will stay will Denver.

great,. if he was our coach, we would only have midgets for corners, they would all have sprained ankles and we would never get off the field on third downs because we would go into the giving the other teams 15 yard cushions on third and 14

True true, I just think judging on how Manning has started to regress as the season went on I don't really see that offense rolling out monster numbers like the past couple years...next year might be his last in the NFL.

Still put up 66.2%. 39 TDs and 101.5 QB rating.

I'm a big prediction guy.

I think it's going to be either Mike Shanahan HC and son, OC plus staff or Vic Fangio HC, Tomsula/Donatell/Rex Ryan promoted to DC and I have no clue on his connections/plans for OC and offensive coaching staff.

Anyone else willing to take a shot?

As to my other hopes, I like Holmgren, Kubiak and Gase.

Shanahan and son has a ZERO percent chance of happening. Kubiak would be nice. I have no idea who his OC would be. Rick Dennison would get the OC job in Baltimore.

You're probably right but do yo have any guestimates yourself?

This is a great point. This is Denver's last shot and they aren't looking very good at the moment.
per a link from valrod33...

HC Fangio
OC Chudzinski
DC Donatell
