Holmgren said the one job he may have been interested in was the 49ers coaching job, but they were not interested.

That sucks. f**k you Jed

He will be 67 years old and hasnt coached in almost 7 years.

I bet Holmgren folks wouldn't mind bringing back George Siefert.

Right because teams ALWAYS hire guys in their late 60's who have been out of coaching for the better part of a decade.

Ya... because you know your program is in GREAT shape when you drag out the mothball fleet of coaches. Guy's the 49ers HC position is the BEST of what's available and in many cases, unavailable.

You don't hand this team to a guy that is going to need a year (at least) to get things going again.

I would be on board in bringing him in as a "consultant"

So based on your assumption then Eddie should have never hired BW, cause he was old and out of times.

Bill Walsh was 48 when the 49ers hired him, Holmgren will be 67 by the start of next season. Are you serious or just trolling?

Hue Jackson, Teryl Austin, and Todd Bowles all proved this weekend why they would be horrible coaches for SF.

The best choices out there for us are Shanahan, Kubiak, and Holmgren. Don't get why age is such a turnoff for you guys -- we're not the Pittsburgh Steelers. We've shown in years past that our coaches (aside from Bill Walsh) do not usually make it to the 5 year mark, and they never will.

Because you want the next great coach, not the one from 20 years ago. I have my reservations about Shanahan for the same reasons but at least he's been involved in coaching somewhat recently.
Personally, I think if it's not Fangio or (Mike) Shanahan it will be an upset.

Former Broncos HC Mike Shanahan also spent Sunday meeting with Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula and other team officials, he confirmed.

Why are they interested in Shanahan? He's no spring chicken either.

Given the choice between Shanahan and Holmgren, I would go with Holmgren.

Why would the FO close the door on Holmgren like that? Not even offer him a courtesy interview. But they're okay with giving one to Foot Fetish.

The hubris and general arrogance of this front office is comically over the top.
Looks like this will go into the weekend....

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora
Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin will have his first head coaching interview w/Atlanta on Wed and then will meet with 49ers on Thurs

Which is fine. I'm totally okay with the average fan being upset if they end up hiring the best guy for the job. Your average Steeler fan was not happy with the Tomlin hire......they quickly got over it.

thats good to hear.

Why sus? MH is the closest thing to BW. Yorks jus hate anyone with close ties to BW.

  1. Too old
  2. BW is dead its time to move on and find the next BW

Not gonna happen. People like BW come once in a life time. The best thing to do is to bring back the system that brought us 5 SBs and that's BW's WCO. MH offers the closest offensive philosophy to that system.

You base their ability to lead this franchise off of 1 game from this weekend ?
