The implication is that York doesn't want to pay Harbaugh because he's too cheap. A highly successful NFL team with a well-paid NFL coach that goes deep into the playoffs is going to bring in more revenue than a mediocre NFL team with a budget head coach. As an owner and a businessman, his interest would be in fielding the best possible team, regardless of the cost of the coach.

Just got a text from a friend that Gase pulled out after discussions with Elway this morning. Not a source - but I assume its from NFL Network or twitter as we are all glued to it.
Look, Trent Baalke doesn't rush and fly to Denver today as a smoke screen. Gase turned us down.

No question there is coaching downgrade from last year. There is no disputing that imo.
That's why I was in favor of swinging for the fences with Gase. At least it had the chance of being a brilliant hire. Tomsula, though a good coach, is not the innovator I felt we needed to take the next step.
