Its all about the quarterback. We have a supremely talented QB who regressed considerably and is running in a number of directions trying to get coached up. Then we fire a very successful coach and the owner implies that the team was not getting "coached up" enough by the current head coach / staff.
Then we waste a lot of time interviewing approximately 3,459 potential candidates. Then we rush out to Denver panicked trying to bring in the hot OC candidate du jour. And out of nowhere - they decide to hire the inhouse guy. And not the inhouse guy who was in charge of the defense. But the guy behind the guy, behind the guy, behind the guy who no one even knew interviewed for the job.
I just want someone to coach up Kap. I can't watch the abortive offense anymore. The consistent delay of game calls, the issue with red zone playcalling, the garbage that we've been for years on offense.
So that's why people are upset. The team fired the successful football coach and promoted the internal lovable character actor.
This. We are nearing a crossroads with our QB. He is at a critical stage in his career. He'll be 28 years old, the time to take the next step is NOW. The HC hire should have been the man best suited to tutor our QB.
They can still do that, we still dont know who our other coaches will be.
True, but now we're completely dependent on the off-chance the right OC becomes available and wants to coach under Tomsula. What offensive coaches is he connected with? Does he have connections throughout the league? The Ravens got lucky with Gary Kubiak this season, that hardly happens.
We had a chance to be pro-active and pick our own offensive guy for the HC position, and we blew it imo.
