This was hardly a Baalke decision. To me this screams Jed York, he's been the guy reportedly pumping up Tomsula in the front offices because Jim Nobody from Nowhere is such a nice guy.

For those unfamiliar with new #49ers coach Jim Tomsula, he's the kind of guy you can stop on a street and talk to for 20 minutes. Personable

You are correct about that, but Jed won't fire himself. Baalke would be the fall guy. This is a huge mistake IMO.

One of these guys has been a coach for over 30 years and the other is 36 years old.

One has been in SF for over a decade and has ALWAYS been highly regarded. The other was here for a year as an assistant to Mike Martz.

Say what you will about not being an offensive coach, I gotta tell you, I don't hate this hire. I'd like it if Fangio stayed, but I don't have an issue with Tomsula. Would I have liked a "sexier" pick? Sure, but "sexy" doesn't win games.

What matters now is who gets hired in the coordinator positions. If it does end up being Trestman, we won't have to worry about him being plucked as a HC anytime soon.

I like your optimism Marvin. I am usually right there with you but I am in full panic mode right now lol.
