This was hardly a Baalke decision. To me this screams Jed York, he's been the guy reportedly pumping up Tomsula in the front offices because Jim Nobody from Nowhere is such a nice guy.

You are correct about that, but Jed won't fire himself. Baalke would be the fall guy. This is a huge mistake IMO.

Nice guys don't necessarily make good head coaches, any way those are the cards the FO has delt us, wonder how the players feel ?

It won't work out. He is the 4th best coach in our division. Some other team probably has a position coach that can be a better head coach.

Tomsula has had what one? Maybe two? Head coaching interviews in his 7 years with the 49ers? None this year... And he was the best guy here? Maybe if he was a QB coach i would be a tad easier to understand. But DL coach? I just don't get it....
