Shanahan is 5 years younger than Holmgren. They interviewed him.

Shanahan also coached sometime in the past 7 years. Its not just that Holmgren is old, its that he's been out of coaching for a really long time.

So based on your assumption then Eddie should have never hired BW, cause he was old and out of times.

Bill Walsh was 48 when the 49ers hired him, Holmgren will be 67 by the start of next season. Are you serious or just trolling?

I am very serious. Yorks haven't proven sh** with their hires so far, The one hire that actually did win for them was fired last week. What gives you any confidence that they are going to hire the right guy again.

One thing is for sure that Yorks have no plan place. You would think that they have been looking to fire Harbaugh since the beginning of the off season that at least they would have a plan in place.

Because they plan wasn't to interview candidates? I think they are clearly executing their plan. Explore many possibilities and choose the guy you think fits best. Why is that such a negative thing to you?

No we were busy trying to win with the HC we had. Looks like Jim is the guy that had his eye on greener pastures being that he had a job picked out ... In college the day we mutually parted ways. His family flew out before the season ended.

Do you understand why that behavior is construed as arrogant? They didn't even give him an interview.

Were they supposed too?

A respected Superbowl winning coach comes out and says he's interested exclusively in the job? Uhm...yeah, you give that guy an interview.

Why does Rex Foot Fetish get an interview over the Walrus?

So because they didn't interview someone that they weren't interested in, who happens to be fairly old and out of football for a long time, they are fools?

Not gonna happen. People like BW come once in a life time. The best thing to do is to bring back the system that brought us 5 SBs and that's BW's WCO. MH offers the closest offensive philosophy to that system.

Why is that the best thing to do ?
I am not saying its the best thing to do. But if you haven't won in over a decade, except for JH, at least give it a chance. Explore it and if you don't like it don't hire the man. But to flat out refuse the guy is very amateurish. Just saying!

Nope. Because when it comes down to it, there is actually very little value that Jed and his yes-men bring to the table. They lucked out with the Harbaugh hire...and they've fooled themselves into thinking they are actually competent. Scary stuff.

Gotcha I agree he has been a good coach in the past. I just don't like all the talk of a successor before he has even coached a down...it's like they have to find 2 head coaches lol.

Not if fangio is promised he is the successor

Our interviews have been 4-6 hours long. Its nothing something you just do to do it. You have to have a predetermined and serious interest to even schedule it
The only way the front office would have pissed me off in how they handled this coaching search is if they had gone out and interviewed only 2 or 3 candidates and announced a hiring almost immediately. That they've got meetings set up with virtually all of the top head coaching candidates is a big plus. I don't care who the head coach will be as long as its the best candidate possible, whether that is in-house or outside the organization, a current assistant, a former head coach, go with the best person possible.

So Holmgren hasn't been contacted by the 49ers? WTF

Agreed. I look at it like this: Holmgren has shown no interest in coaching for any jobs that had been available for the last several years, including when we hired Harbaugh. All of a sudden, he is interested because we have a team that is capable of winning a super bowl. That, to me, sounds like a guy who is coming in and expecting it to be an easy job. If I am in the FO, I am leary.

When we are winning again we shouldn't expect your praise then I suspect?

Why are they interviewing people who have never held a HC position at all?

Holmgren has forgotten more about coaching football than many of these coordinators have ever learned.

Because using the "Yorks" discredits everything else you wrote after that.

Lol, so Yorks are untouchable. You can't criticize or question them, cause they do everything right, like hiring Nolan, Sing and........ You are funny!!

I guess this is continued proof that the 9ers job is THE job on the market...retired coaches coming out now to want to coach us. That's a great sign.

Now, does this mean we haven't contacted him YET or we did contact him and expressed that we weren't interested.

I almost wonder if Holmgren is throwing out this bone to make our HC search even more attractive or he's genuine or it's his way or throwing his name back into the coaching circles.
