Supposedly he's heading to Buffalo. The entire coaching staff is basically gone.

Wasn't he just talking up Gase?? Dammit I miss Gase already

FWIW 49ers did a study abt great coaches yrs ago. 1 trait: be an asst on team that won 50 games/5 yrs. Tomsula: asst on team that won 49/4

As @TArostegui points out, Tomsula was actually on staffs that won 55 games over 5 years. And one of those wins was his own.

This has Marathe written all over it again.

I said the same thing. Its pretty evident. I guess the water boy in the 80s was the next great coach too.
GREAT another awesome thing seems to be Tomsula has NO IDEA who his OC will be... He has been HC what 30 minutes and already 5 names of possible OC's for him???

Goddamnit. Hopefully it's just an offensive housecleaning. We did not need a total housecleaning, but I suppose management lost control of the situation when they pushed Harbaugh out the door. Unrealistic to maintain most of the staff when the HC who brought them there is gone.

I'll say it again, no coach worth his salt was gonna come here after the way the FO treated Harbaugh and the dynamics of the FO. Coaches talk and good ones know their worth. Jed f**ked this up Period, point blank.

Thats not the issue at all, they just never had any intention of hiring anyone other than Tomsula which may affect them in the future since guys won't be wanting to waste their time, unsure if they are being used as props in a massive charade.

Schefter confirmed that Gase was told that the 49ers were choosing to go in a different direction, he never told them no. I don't believe that they had any real intention of hiring any of the guys that they interviewed or were all too serious about them.

Baalke flying to meet with Gase alone, without the rest now looks like they were just trying to having a second interview with some candidate so they could further spin it as a serious coaching search.
I disagree. Unless the FO are a bunch of inept idiots there's no way he was the first choice. But assuming he was they are even more stupid. Knowing that you would also lose the best defensive coordinator in the league as well. If he were on the radar then they would also know that Fangio would leave so why would they deny Fangio the opportunity to interview with other teams? Why wouldn't they make the hire early so they could have a better choice of offensive coordinators? It smells like a f**k up to me.

Edit :

Now with the BASG reporting there will be a house cleaning it says even more what a f**k up this was.

Total idiots. Letting Fangio walk. My only hope now is that Kaepernick will pull a 180 and kick arse on the field in 2015. Our defense could very well decline and yadda yadda.

Too pissed to type.
http://blogs.mercurynews.com/49ers/2015/01/14/player-reaction-anquan-boldin-believes-jim-tomsulas-promotion-is-positive-sign-for-continuity/

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin heralded Jim Tomsula's promotion to head coach as a "good move," adding that Tomsula will not be "as tough" as Jim Harbaugh.

Here is the transcript from Boldin's telephone interview with Sports Illustrated's 120Sports.com:

Impressions of Tomsula's promotion: "I think it's a good move. He's a guy that everybody is familiar with. He's a guy that has a pretty good feel for the locker room, so I think it's a good move."

What offensive coordinator he would you love to see: "To be honest, it doesn't matter to me. I've played in a number of systems and have been able to thrive in whatever system I've been in. Whatever offensive coordinator comes in, we have the pieces in place to be a successful offense."

What is Tomsula like: "He's a great coach, first of all. For teams to be successful, you have to have as much continuity from year to year as much as possible. Hiring Tomsula gives us that continuity. The less change you have, the better chance you have of being successful the following year."

How much did the Harbaugh-ownership strife impact 2014: "If you talk to some people they'll say it played a part. But I honestly feel players play, and that's the bottom line. General managers don't play. Head coaches don't play. Wins or losses come from whether we play to the best of our ability."

What is Tomsula's style: "He'll be the same way, but I just think he has a pretty good feel for the locker room. Not saying Coach Harbaugh didn't. I don't think Coach Tomsula will be as tough as Coach Harbaugh was."

Yes, because if Baalke leaves, the owner who was bragging that Tomsula could win more games than Harbaugh....a year ago....is just going to grow some common sense.
Jed: so Jim who would you like as your OC?

Jim: Offense?? Hmmm??? I'll let Baalke worry about that....

I'll prescribe him all the HGH and roids needed.

I'd prefer Chudzinski. Did some pretty good things with Carolina 2011-2012, and a long-time TE coach. Might be able to get more out of Vernon and Vance.

Chudzinski is supposed to be pretty good right? Not sure how brilliant Weis was outside of NE...i'm not too enamored with Trestman.
This is becoming a bigger nightmare scenario by the minute... Jed is just playing with this franchise like a toy his parents gave him. I'm now fully on board with the f**k Dork, he's an ignorant entitled little prick crowd now.

If we hired his maid, he would say the same thing.
