Goddamnit. Hopefully it's just an offensive housecleaning. We did not need a total housecleaning, but I suppose management lost control of the situation when they pushed Harbaugh out the door. Unrealistic to maintain most of the staff when the HC who brought them there is gone.

The FO set a bad prescedent.

Now matter how hard you work (JH was a tireless maniacal worker) and no matter how successfull you are (49 wins), if you don't bend over for the SF logo, you will be gone..

Who the hell would want to work under those circumstances. I said before we will have a hard time getting legitamate coaches for this reason and I was laughed at.

Knowing that you would also lose the best defensive coordinator in the league as well. If he were on the radar then they would also know that Fangio would leave so why would they deny Fangio the opportunity to interview with other teams? Why wouldn't they make the hire early so they could have a better choice of offensive coordinators? It smells like a f**k up to me.

I disagree. Like others are saying, what it looks like is that Tomsula was always the guy, they wanted to see if anyone was better than him rather than treat candidates equally with an open mind. I don't think they were ever serious about bringing in a coach from the outside but they needed the cover that a "coaching search" would give them in order to hire Tomsula.


Like one report stated, Tomsula's desire to bring Tarver onboard is one reason why the hiring is happening now, since all the Raiders guys are free to go wherever they want.

Thats not the issue at all, they just never had any intention of hiring anyone other than Tomsula which may affect them in the future since guys won't be wanting to waste their time, unsure if they are being used as props in a massive charade.

Schefter confirmed that Gase was told that the 49ers were choosing to go in a different direction, he never told them no. I don't believe that they had any real intention of hiring any of the guys that they interviewed or were all too serious about them.





Baalke flying to meet with Gase alone, without the rest now looks like they were just trying to having a second interview with some candidate so they could further spin it as a serious coaching search.

Man that is a lot of speculation there. I get it. You wanted Gase and have a right to vent in this forum as it was designed for. I just respect you as a contributor to this site and hope you don't turn into someone who hopes for a 5-11 season just to say... I was right...

Lived though that during the Alex years. Really thought some posters wanted us to lose just to say Alex sucks. Always want to be a fan who is hopeful and while this was not my choice, I still want to believe every opportunity was given to convince the ownership that Tomsula was there guy. If you want to say he seemed to have an advantage going in... I agree. To say that they went into it saying we are hiring him and will conduct multiple interview just to prove we are willing to have an open mind, seems like a stretch.
