Have they said how much Tomsula was signed for? Why does everybody keep saying he was a cheap hire? We had the highest paid coaching staff in the league while Jim was here. I don't think this is where they are looking to save money.

And now that highest paid coaching staff is all gone.

thank you
So if all of the assistants are being met go, there is evidently a plan in place to replace them. Does anyone know what it might be? Anyone know anything about this guy's general philosophy? No idea what kind of offense he will employ, and while the coordinators call the plays in game, it's the HC responsibility to put a game plan together. If he doesn't have a general offensive philosophy, we are doomed to repeat the past by installing a completely different one every season...

Why would he not be a cheap hire? How are your glasses so rose colored? Do you think someone in a competitive market with no offers for anything more than a DL coach will get paid like a good head coach? He's probably making $100k right now, it would be literally insane to pay him more than $3M per with no reason to provide a better offer. Hell even same pay, would you rather be a DL coach or head coach?

This. Exactly who were the 49ers competing against to make Tomsula a head coach. He had no other offers, nobody even tried to interview him for a defensive coordinator position. Why would he be earn anymore than the bottom range for a first time head coach.

I'm confused! How is a D line coach suppose to groom our young and very raw QB? Kurt Warner ' s program only lasts 11 weeks. This is a disaster. Here comes the revolving door at OC.

Yeah, you certainly are confused.

I don't think he is. I'm afraid we may resort to the old faithful "run, run, pass, punt" offense...

Update: Many of the assistant coaches have been called and are continuing to be called to be updated on 49ers' plans.

Ugh, called to be let go or retained.....

Or maybe, just maybe, that's how these types of things roll out? Are you going to call your assistant coaches and let them know the direction the club is going in before you even hire your new HC? Tomsula was Hired today....

People seriously need to wake up and realize this is how business works. When i need to replace an area manager i don't call my field reps to let them know we are changing direction and ask for their perspectives and opinions before i have made the hire of my new AM. I hire my new AM, then roll out the changes to my field reps hand and hand with my new AM. After that they can either get on board or find work elsewhere.

He hires a quality OC and QB coach, that's how.

And the majority of those coaches were all on the offensive side (11, IIRC). And we continually put up one of the worst offenses in the league, year after year. Shows what coaches getting paid has to do with what they can produce on the field. lol

my question is what is the point of even training with him when we dont even know who our OC is?

Except they aren't yet, and nothing has been confirmed as far as who stays and who goes.

This logic and reason has no place on this forum. This place is for grown men to act all emo and whine about how the way things they wanted to go is the only way a team can be successful. lol

I like Tomsula, don't get me wrong but likely losing Fangio and probably others too? I just don't know how we are better off this way. Of course it's possible I am wrong and there are a million different scenarios that can play out.

Either way, 49ers Faithful until I die.
