According to @mortreport , Dan Quinn, not Doug Marrone is the favorite for the #Jets head coaching vacancy.
Yes, please get Quinn out of the NFC West.

He can't unless he's offered a HC position somewhere. He's on contract for 1 more year.
He could if he made a fuss and simply refused to work but that brings up the question.....where would he go? To as good of a situation as he has here? Doubtful. To receive the same pay as he receives here? Even more doubtful.

If anyone gets a chance to read Peter King's MMQB he expands on Jed's "winning with class" statement. It might have to do with the lack of discipline among some of the 49ers front line players (Aldon, Ray, etc.) and possibly the way Jim carried himself (sideline blowups).

My Best guess: after the 49ers satisfy the Rooney rule (midweek), I think a decision will come late in the week. If it doesn't, I'm going to think they're holding out for a coordinator who is still in the playoffs (Gase, McD, Kubiak). That's just my unprofessional (and probably unwanted) opinion.

I was wondering this. When are we going to interview some minority candidates. Bowles is done. Maybe Pep next week?

What is with all this Shanahan interest? Is Jed York becoming Daniel Snyder 2.0? Are the west coast version of the Redsklins? Shanahan going to hire his son as OC. This is ridiculous. Kubiak would be a better choice.

Niners ain't the Redskins. The issues in Washington predate Shanahan and will exist long after today.
My reasons on being interested in Shanahan have everything to do with teaching Colin how to play QB in a more conventional way, but also understand how to develop mobile QBs in Young and RGIII. Yes, RGIII got hurt, but a lot of that is on RGIII himself. It's also worth mentioning that RGIII played well enough to be rookie of the year under Shanahan.
In addition to that, Shanahan has been able to put together a deadly rushing attack everywhere he's been. Check out these backs and their numbers under Shanahan....
BRONCOS:
Terrell Davis:
1995: 1117 yds, 7 TDs
1996: 1538 yds, 13 TDs
1997: 1750 yds, 15 TDs
1998: 2008 yds, 21 TDs
Olandis Gary:
1999: 1159 yds, 7 TDs
Mike Anderson:
2000: 1487 yds, 15 TDs
Mike Anderson and Terrell Davis shared:
2001: 1379 yds, 4 TDs
Clinton Portis:
2002: 1508 yds, 15 TDs
2003: 1591 yds, 14 TDs
Reuben Droughns
2004: 1240 yards, 6 TDs
Mike Anderson...again
2005: 1014 yds, 14 TDs
Tatum Bell
2006: 1025 yds, 2 TDs
Travis Henry and Selvin Young:
2007: 1420 yds, 5 TDs
in 2008, they had 3 guys over 300 yards
REDSKINS:
Ryan Torrain:
2010: 742 yds, 4TDs
Roy Helu:
2011: 640 yds, 2 TDs
Alfred Morris:
2012: 1613 yds, 13 TDs
2013: 1275 yds, 7 TDs
This ain't rocket science. There are some good back in there, but its the SYSTEM that really makes those guys good. I just picture Carlos Hyde running that zone-blocking scheme and it makes me happy. The return of the running game, huge cutback lanes to run in and getting Hyde in space.
Combine that with Kap improving (hopefully) and running a bit of the read option....looks good to me, particularly with the defense Shanahan never had in Washington.
If this was a total rebuild, I wouldn't be interested in Shanahan. It isn't a complete rebuild though. This is a talented team with a lot of the parts in place already to make Shanahans offense work.
If they can keep Vic around and make sure Shanahan stays away from the personnel dept, I'm all on board.

Ok I can understand that. My problem is why does he have to bring in his son along as OC if he becomes head coach? This is a conflict of interest. I'd rather hire Shanahan senior as OC.
