Giving Harbaugh total control would have been a disaster. The game is too big for one man to do everything. His personality & micromanaging ways are better suited for college although he proved he can coach at the NFL level.
below are just a few points we've seen early in this season that show tomsula is in over his head:

-we threw from power formations against a terrible pitt secondary while we were trailing in the 1st half...there's no explanation for this stupidity

-we continually blitzed into pittsburgh's max protect scheme instead of dropping our DB's into coverage.....there's no explanation for this stupidity

-we set a tone of "we're so scared we might make more mistakes" by running the ball 13x in a row in a blow out....there's no explanation for this stupidity

-we ran the ball from the shot gun at our own 1 yard line, and shockingly got a safety.....there's no explanation for this stupidity

-we didn't immediately yank quinton patton off the field after his stupid 15yd personal foul penalty, this clown never learns but is never held accountable....there's no explanation for this stupidity

buckle up, this is only 3 games and tomsula looks like a complete train wreck. we've seen multiple players throw their hands up in disgust during the game...a great sign that the players don't trust each other and the plays that are being called. a great sign of a team in complete disarray

thank you jed york and trent baalke

Maybe giving Harbaugh full control wouldnt have been that bad after all? We were done early in both games. No disrespect to the body work that he has put in but Jt just doesnt seem to be our guy. That dumb look on his face, is not a look i want to see from my leader on a ball club. I hope we can turn things around but that bewildered look on his face tells me, doesnt give me that reassurance the we can bounce back. There is no way Rodgers is going to let up on us this week.

the messiah victim coach from last year had a glazed look on his face throughout most of last year . people are really out of control with their hate for the coach,, b***hing about what he wears, what he looks like etc. if the team does turn things around i really hope we remember all those who have found absolute delight in the piling on of this team, coaches and players we have seen as of late. in some quarters we have the coach fired, rathman as the coach, ck gone, "gabby" as the qb and a couple of posters as gm cuz they know they can do a better job. it is beyond pathetic how so many have declared this team dead with only the time and date of the funeral to be announced.

So by the same logic you're using, you should be just as ready to admit when this debacle of a season has turned into a disaster. Jim Harbaugh was certainly not a messiah, but nobody confused him with being an inept coach. You can't criticize fans for pointing out when someone appears to be in over their head. I've enjoyed the glory days of the 80s and being a dynasty. I suffered through the 2000s and the fumbling of every decision. I embraced the brief resurrection to the top. And now all signs are pointing to a return to desolation. I won't hold back on criticism of my team and neither will I hold back on praise. I'm going to call it like I see it and I won't throw my fellow fans under the bus for it.

i always step up and admit when i am wrong. when it becomes clear to me, no offense to fellow posters, the coach has lost the team and there is no hope, then i will pile on, but to do this stuff, this early, is silly in my opinion... oh by the way i went through the 70's. the good and not so good with dick nolan, the what could have been great with monte, then having to watch people wear bags on their heads to games while we traded a future away for oj and signed hollywood henderson who did blow during games. when you go through that stuff, you get a thick skin. I also know with the parity in the nfc, there is time for the team to turn things around. if not i will tell the world i was wrong just like i did when it came to
1giving erickson a second year with his coaches
2 thinking david boston would save us
3 thinking there is no way the niners replace alex at mid season and then thinking there was no way they would make post season in 2012 as they played poorly in their last three games
4, the infamous players i have promoted who are now working at vons bylow, such as jimmy maxwell, eric wright, marlon moore, chris cook, jon baldwin etc etc

Tentatively scheduled for 10/4/15 @ 7:00 at Grace Cathederal in San Ftancisco.... if San Francisco won't have them.... Then it will be @ 5:00 PM at Great America in the area adjacent to the Drop Zone....

i am sure the details are being worked on by posters who only post when the niners are struggling

It's silly, but not implausible to discuss the possibility several weeks ago.

Anytime this was attempted, of course, the posters were sneered at as negative nellies.

The last two games are alarming. But coaching staffs gotta do what coaching staffs gotta do.

Look at the film, learn from mistakes, pick up the pieces.

Lets see what happens here.

I will not be surprised if they run the same gameplan as they did the past 3 games. Mangini will have his blitzes and the secondary will try and cover the field against the GB receivers. I think Cobb will have good numbers as is Aaron. We don't have the defensive players that can keep GB's offense limited. We have the playmakers on offense though to score points. I just Geep takes a different approach here.

oh my, where is the outrage over personal attacks on posters? maybe that out rage is selective for one group of fans. oh by the way yes i am glad jh and roman are gone and as we are seeing with the bears, fangio indeed is proving he was only good with us due to our talent

Feel bad for the guy, doesn't have the same roster that the previous coach had. He's going to have to take his lumps, questions whether he's the right man for the job, etc.

I'd like to see what he could do with better talent and coordinators, but impatient fans want immediate results (and don't take this as someone making excuses, because I really wasn't a fan of the hiring, but was/still willing to give him a chance).
Great coaches, like great QBs, make everyone around them better. If Tomsula had taken over a losing team, with an underachieving attitude in 2011 we'd see the same results. Maybe not as extreme as this but it would still be a losing team. This team was lazy before 2011 and now it's back to being lazy again.

chill out, he didn't attack any poster and was speaking in general terms.

And blaming Fangio on the Bears situation? lol

Harbaugh is doing pretty awful in Michigan too, right?

And Roman, man look at that awful Bills offense! I bet QBs really struggle and look just awful in Roman's offense. No way he turns around last year's 26th ranked offense

edit: Harbs and his staff made mistakes but to regard them as a failure or inept is just full of lulz

100% Truth. As far as JT, look, he's a huge rookie HC. I think he and the team will adjust. He'll figure things out. And the fact of the matter is, York is not going to get rid of Tomsula after one year, especially after the off-season we had. He would look way stupider than anyone ever considered him before, given the cards Tomsula has been dealt while being a rookie HC.

This team isn't "beyond repair" or something. That's a ridiculous assertion. We have fixable issues. People need to recognize that.
